    Info on shimano bait runners

What about the Aero reels with the fighting drag function, which when left on light setting, could be used as a bait runner. Think the models were called something like Aero 3010 and 4010 GTE or GTM? I used to use them for light Barbel fishing 30 years ago...

    Small river Rod recommendation

just launched and should make for the perfect perch tip rod on small rivers: https://www.drennantackle.com/products/rods/acolyte/acolyte-feeder-rods/11ft-acolyte-commercial-f1-silvers-rod/

Are you happy to pay to watch fishing videos?

No I wouldn’t pay. Didn’t Matt Hayes try a similar subscription video venture and failed? I’m quite happy watching Fish with Carl videos on YouTube. High quality professional videos and he has 490K subscribers, so guess he makes a living from sponsors (Korda and Guru), along with YouTube...

    What youngs pin ?

I have two Wensum pins, one silver and one black. I have issues with them, the slight wobble on a £400 pin, is annoying. The machining on one of the back plates, wasn't properly deburred, pre anodising! Whilst on the other reel, one of the handle assemblies, fell to bits whilst the reel was in...

    What youngs pin ?

How do you find engaging the ratchet on the RS? I nearly bought one last year, but was put off by a few comments on a couple of FB pages, where owners claimed it was really stiff and a 2 handed affair to engage it? The new Youngs 4” Heritage limited edition looks nice. I prefer 4” pins and if I...

    Milk proteins

My most successful Barbel boillie ever, was Mainline Maple 8. OK it was based on a fish meal base mix, but the maple flavour certainly didn’t put them off.

    Still water barbel

I just find it difficult to believe that its commercially viable to grow them to that size and how much would a 10lb+ Barbel cost?

    Still water barbel

What I don’t understand, is when a new stillwater syndicate or commercial fishery opens and claims to offer double figure Barbel, where did the fish come from?

    Small river Rod recommendation

Drennan Acolyte plus 11ft feeder rod, plus you can buy lighter quiver tips e.g 1oz The Acolyte Ultra 11ft feeder rod, is also capable of dealing with bonus fish. Had Chub over 5lb on mine when Perch fishing.

Yes Joe, I have completed the survey 👍

Ministers propose scrapping pollution rules to build more homes

Joe, If that's the case, it includes some very odd questions, such as: - Should we maintain the requirement for buffer strips that are 2m from the centre of the hedgerow? - Should we maintain a no cutting period to ensure hedgerows are managed in a way which protects important bird species...

Ministers propose scrapping pollution rules to build more homes

DEFRA have put out a consultation on hedgerow management to all farmers/landowners, with questions basically ranging from weakening current protections to maintaining them! Why would you want to weaken them, given our catastrophic declines in farmland wildlife over recent decades. Its basically...

    Shareholders must be worried

I’m personally a little disappointed that the news article impacts, talk about human health e.g swimming. No mention of wildlife including fish 🙄 I keep saying that as anglers, we are not making enough noise about this. Whenever it’s on BBC or Sky News it generally some posh women’s local...

Ministers propose scrapping pollution rules to build more homes

Paul, With respect you seem to be poo pooing my idea and this is the problem generally, as anglers can’t either be bothered or think what’s the point. My last email to my MP was as follows: Hi, Earlier today I watched Prime Ministers Questions, where Ed Davey asked a question relating to...

Ministers propose scrapping pollution rules to build more homes

If just 10% of anglers, independently emailed their MP on such matters, that’s around 100K responses, which gets attention. Problem is 99% of anglers can’t be arsed to do such things……… I‘ve emailed my MP twice in the last 12 months and I do get a reply.
