I mostly fish with Centrepins using Drennan Camo XT in 15lb BS. As I only put around 40 meters on the pin, I think nothing of changing it every 2 or 3 sessions and especially if I've had a scrap with a few good fish!
On fixed spool reels, maybe every half dozen sessions and due to backing line...
If you want to make it look really good, soak both parts of the reel in neat Dettol for 48 hours and all the black paint will flake off. It will then polish up really nicely with suitable metal polish.
It’s the W3, 5 - 15g and is ideal for fishing cheb and Texas rigs in the 5 to 7g range.
There are more model options available in the spin style rods, rather than the casting rod, which I have.
Also don’t be tempted to upgrade to W6 as in my experience the burgundy varnish chips off far too...
The Dettol tip does work, or at least it did for me when stripping the paint off a couple of Speedia Pins. Note however I used neat Dettol and soaked the spool and back plate for 48 hours.
Few random bits relating to points covered on this thread:
Fishflix is worth a month subscription of any anglers money, there's some good stuff on there IMHO; really enjoyed it and I'll subscribe again in a few months to see what else is new. The Chub videos are ace 👍
Re vloggers, they can be...
Re the whole PVA mesh bag attachment thing, have you tried this approach:

Clip in onto the lead, attach your pva bag and...
I loaded up my original Korum ruckbag last night and it must be at least 17 years old! Continuously overloaded and abused, but always wiped clean after ever session. Defo one of my best ever angling purchases and not sure how the current models compare in both quality and longevity?
Be very careful attempting this on a Youngs pin, as it turned into a mare for me. Depending on the model, the bearings are held in place by a circlip, which was difficult to remove. Once removed and bearings replaced, I just couldn’t refit a new circlip; tried all sorts and in the end I had to...
Agree with the Drennan SS Nets mentioned above in 26” size.
Ideal for Barbel up to 13lb+

I’ve sold a few rods in the past, delivered using Parcel Force 48 hour door to door and without issue. I typically use the hard cardboard tubes, which I save when receiving new rods. If you have a local tackle shop, which you use, ask them to save you some.
More recently, I’m a member of a...
Have a look at the 2.5lb TC Torrix rods, which Andy Bell is selling in the classified section. I met him to collect a pair of Insight SU Barbel rods last weekend. He brought the Torrix to show me too, I had a waggle and they are very nice Barbel rods. Mint condition too 👍🏻
I too am in the NW and I have previously had rods from Kev Baines at Anglers Workshop in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He did retire, but I then heard he started up again and in the same premises. Tel: 01782 561515
He builds on Harrison blanks and is cheaper than other rod builders in my experience.
I so wish that Mainline Baits still produced the Maple 8 base mix and activator liquid. Never has a bait filled me with so much confidence. Rolled my own and it worked anywhere and year round ☹️
I too am struggling with the large size, when how to best present them on the hook. Re the size, these pellets will come from the aquaculture industry, so hinders will have zero say on what size is available, they just buy direct and repackage them.
They are nothing like the original elips in...
