    Merino wool base layer

No white. They're nice, thick and warm, but not wearing particularly well.

    Barbel reels

I use Daiwa Castizm 25QDA's for my carp fishing. Front drag is the baitrunner and clutch. They are amazing reels to be honest, and I always play off the clutch :)

Free Spirit Hi S Barbel Rods, 12ft 2lb, Full Cork Handle

Just since this thread is running again... I've been using my FS Hi-S 12' 2lb TC rods throughout the year and can honestly say I have no regrets whatsoever buying these. Well built, light, slim but plenty of power. When playing bigger fish in strong flows you can feel the rod going through the...

    Merino wool base layer

I've got a set of M&S merino wool thermals. They haven't been worn all that much, perhaps a dozen times, but the material has and is wearing thin in a number of places. Usually no issues with M&S stuff but I have doubts over the longevity of these thermals... 😕

This bit... (seems a common problem)

Well yeah, silicone sealant. I work in the trade so we call it automotive silicone to be posh :D Sikaflex I think is what I have, basically it sticks stuff to cars and they stay there. I find superglue/araldite type of adhesives go brittle and fail over time.

    Landing net handle

Smear the tube with it, fit bits together and let it go off? Is that a no no? Stuck car bits on with it in the past and it's held fine at speeds I probably should not have done 😂

    Landing net handle

Yeah mine went the first time when it was relatively new, hastily glued back on as I was on my way out to fish. Lasted a couple of months then came loose again. Did a better job 2nd time and I've had it a couple of years now. If it goes again, I'll stick it back on with automotive silicone which...

    Landing net handle

As an upside they are fairly sturdy, even though I have had to glue the collar back onto the main pole once or twice!

    Heated clothing

I had mine on the other day over normal socks, with thick merino wool long johns and combat pants on, and all that tucked inside relatively snug fitting Grubs boots. Didn't feel the battery dig in at all. Very surprised.

It's fair comment really Gerry, in my 30's I was happily carp fishing in freezing temps to minus 8 (caught 2 x 30's that night too!), but last few years I've somewhat turned into a bit of a whuss 😂

Same ones Peter? There's lots of different ones about all claiming to do the same. Have to say I did feel the warmth from mine, not massively noticeable but definitely there. Fished today actually and didn't bother with them since the forecast was for 8 degrees air temp, just in case anyone...

    Dead baiting.

I had a go for them on a local stillwater last week, I'm proper terrified of them 😂 simple ledgered 'fish kebabs', one treble, two points barbless, the third that holds the kebab barbed. Was made up with my capture, 2oz shy of 10lb and you can probably tell I look scared to death lol (ps...

    Heated clothing

OK, first try with the Eeieer heated socks today. Charged the batteries up on day of receipt (Friday) so I was ready to go. Few comments about the fit first, I bought the XL size recommended for UK 8-12.5, i'm a 10 and wouldn't really fancy putting them on bigger feet. They are a snug, but...

@Ian Sewter too funny. To witness that would certainly warm up a cold day 😂battery life on these ones reckons to be up to 5 hours at max, 7 hours middle and 10 hours minimum. If they work OK and I get 5 hours at middle setting that will do me. I don't do all day sessions just generally a few...

Oh aye I've got a good carp barrow, but I'm hoping my legs can manage to carry the weight of the two tiny batteries 😅

Hoping to get out over the weekend, and a couple of times next week. Although ironically now I've bought some the weather looks very mild for the next week!!😂
