What are your targets for the new season?

To find somewhere local, productive for large fish and quiet. I found it last year, rinsed it July and August but the secret got out and I couldn't get in it for most of September 😂 Checked my secret Derwent spot this week and that's got a f**k off big snag across the front of it now...

You must have more feeders than Angling Direct now Dave 🤣

    45 " brolly

Hi Gary, what storm pole adapters did you use? I've looked into getting some but the spokes are quite chunky, 6mm'ish. I did think of doing what @Richard Isaacs said and drilling some out to fit, but all the ones I've looked at don't look like they have enough meat on them to facilitate doing that 😕

    45 " brolly

I think you have very few options, either cheap and cheerful (think NGT, Bison etc) for £25/£30. These are light but relatively flimsy - although I've had an NGT one for the last two years and it's not been well looked after, it's never leaked, it's light as a feather and it has been used in...

    Heavy Barbel rods

Mark Tunley built Harrison Dark Carbon 2.5's... 😂

    Braid change

I've been using PowerPro in breaking strains of 9kg (20lb), 13kg (29lb) and most recently 15kg (33lb). Haven't used the 15kg yet (would have had 13kg again but none in stock locally) but that's on my flood rods. 9kg is on my 11' 1.75tc rods and 12' 2lb tc rods, 15kg is on my 12' 2.5lb tc rods...

Absolutely madness what people will pay

The Solar thing is very very real, unbelievable in fact 😂

Absolutely madness what people will pay

You should check out 'old skool' Solar carp gear, you could retire on some of the right bits and pieces 😂 I've got a 90's Solar baiting needle that's probably worth best part of a hundred quid, but I'm not selling it cause it's a great baiting needle and I use it!

    Feeders

Oh they're neat, I'll have to have some of those in the tackle box thanks Gerry ;)

    Feeders

To be honest I don't lose many feeders, but the ones I do lose tend to be more the metal cage type with the cage coming away from the rest of the feeder and just leaving the boom and swivel attached. This is the best outcome really as I can then retrieve all the line and hook length. I do lose a...

    PVA mesh

Another tip for using PVA, many will be aware I'm sure but for those that are not... Dip your mesh bag in salmon oil before chucking it out and it slows down the dissolve rate of the PVA. I use this method on a couple of deep (20ft+) swims I fish on the Ouse 👍

Free spirit vs Daiwa barbel rods

Can't comment on Daiwa barbel rods as I've never used them let alone seen them. I do have a pair of 12' Free Spirit Hi-S 2lb TC barbel rods though that are absolute blinding rods. I used these for most of my fishing last year on the Yorkshire Ouse and Trent and they handled fish to 13lb with...

    Rhino beam

I guess in answer to your question, those little clip on lights have 3 levels of power, I use mine on the lowest setting but maybe on full power, with a modern phone camera, it would provide enough light for a pic without flash. I guess if that was your intention the rhino light kind of thing...

    Rhino beam

I always use the phone camera flash, but as mentioned I set the camera up a bit further away from me than I would for daytime shots, just to avoid the flash being overpowering in the photo. You can then crop it back to size. I also find taking the pic from a little further away makes the focus...

    Rhino beam

A good tip I can give you, in my opinion of course, is to take the pic from a little further away than you maybe would. I'm not talking 5 yards, but maybe a couple. If too close the camera flash can overpower the picture, but move it away a little and then crop the picture afterwards generally...

This is my kit, and a night time selfie taken with it last night! Phone clips into the black holder and the little round white light clips onto the phone. Easy peesy 👍

    Feeders

Yorkshire Ouse mostly. Loads of wooden piling all over the place and I don't have enough knowledge yet, various positions in the river it would seem!! 😂 That's usually anywhere from 8 to 14 feet under water when fishing in flood!

The rivers I fish, if I need 6oz then I'm going fully expecting to lose some tackle 🤣
