    New Baitrunners

Just for the record, I was not fishing downstream! I was maybe casting upstream and ended up with the feeder downstream, but I was not casting straight out or downstream on either rod 😂😂😂

    New Baitrunners

I am, but the adjustment range at the tighter end of the baitrunner tension just doesn't seem to be there. I'll show you next time we meet up bud. Pain in the arse at times! edit - much to your disapproval, Daiwa reels seem to have better control on baitrunner tension 😂😂😂

    A new rod holdall!!! 😂

    New Baitrunners

You guys using the D's & OC's... After opinions on how you find the baitrunner tension adjustment of them as I find this a weakness (owner of a pair of 6000D and a pair of 8000D). Both sets I find I have the same 'issue'. For normal river conditions, ie. not crazy flow and not loads of debris...

What are bucket bags like as roaming tools

I have the trakker version and find it useful to chuck everything in when floater fishing for carp. Don't use mine as a seat though, I mean you can, but once it's been sat on, trying to get the lids off the plastic bucket inside is almost a nail losing affair! 😅

    Feedabeads

I've used a mixture of the Korum beads (the one piece green ones being better than the older blue/black ones) and more recently Drennan Clip Beads. Although I found out yesterday these can snap when pulling for a break, of which I had to do many times yesterday on a flooded Yorkshire Ouse 🙄😂😂😂

    Winter boots/wellies?

Same as mine. Got the frostline as well, they're fine up to freezing temps. Great for walking in ;)

    Winter boots/wellies?

Pretty sure I've worn traditional style wellies with multiple socks and still had the issue! No such problem with the Grub boots though and they are nicer for walking distances in ;)

    Winter boots/wellies?

I've got two pairs of Grubs boots, Frostline - OK until temp near freezing, and I've bought some Snowline for winter. Paired with decent socks I'm hoping feet will stay warm. I can't walk in traditional style wellies as the socks always slip down and pee me off, I find the grub boots mega comfy...

    Angling mail

Yep that's a shame. I made the front page in 1995 with a modest bream of all things 😆

    custom rod

You'll probably find the 8000 too large, but maybe try the 6000 size and see how it feels, they also do a 4000 which may sit nicely. Basically the Shimano D range or Shimano OC are very similar and really nice reels...

    new chair

I bought a Daiwa 50 inch wavelock brolly from them. RRP £110, think I paid about £55. I see they are now doing them for £35 I think?! But turned up after about 8 days no problem. Also bought a JRC stealth recliner chair recently off ebay and based in Germany. That also arrived no problems at all ;)

    custom rod

Hi Lee, the reels on those rods are the Shimano 8000D model. I have 6000D's on my 2lb Free Spirit rods and they're lovely. My only complaint is that the baitrunner tension doesn't have a lot of usable range at the firmer end of the scale, it's either 'free running' or 'very firm'. Seems to be...

    custom rod

Andy I've just read your initial post again and note you mention the Mark Tunley Dark Carbons... The rods that I have just retrospectively had isotopes fitted to are a pair of Mark Tunley built Harrison Dark Carbon Xtra Power Specialists in 12' 2.5lb, they are for flood fishing. Haven't used...

    custom rod

Hi Mike, I've used him for odd bits n pieces over the years and used to frequent Hooks & Tackle now and then when he ran the shop. I have never had a rod built by him fully though, although I know of work he has done for friends and they're happy with the service. He was putting some isotopes...

    custom rod

Oi, dropped my floodwater rods off with him Saturday for some modifications, let him get those done before you go recommending him please 😂 Top bloke though 👍

    Tackle reviews

I bought the trakker version for double that for my carp stuff, but agree they are great boxes those ;)

    Tackle reviews

I know NGT stuff sometimes gets a bashing, and rightly so! 😅 However, I have to say their tackle box and 4 bit box package that you can get for £10 is superb. It houses all the bits I need for long or short sessions, I only use 2 of the bit boxes but nice to have a couple spare. Even has room...

    advice for a newbie

As Jon says, if you catch and catch well and happen to get a biggy or two in amongst them, then make the area obvious, you can say goodbye to getting back into your favourite spot. I've caught one bigger than that rivers current record, and didn't hide the capture, but I was keen to keep the...

    Anglers mail article

Ian, yes to the chub 🤪 fished the Trent for a couple of nights in June and I could not keep a rod in the water for the cheeky buggers! Was surreal unhooking 5lb chub after 5lb chub in the edge! I said at the time, didn't care if I don't catch another all season, thankfully I've not had that many...
