The lake has a lot of mussels as well so that won't be helping, I didn't realise it damaged so easily. I'll have a look at either a heavier breaking strain or one of the mainline's suggested. Thanks for the tips.

I keep an eye on temps but tend to follow the levels more keenly. As others have mentioned I favour a falling river level if possible but an evening on the bank beats an evening in front of the telly!
