    Chasing chub....

Hi Dave yes I hope I'm not opening up a can of worms here!! I personally have a massive deep net that I place onto a long back stick and carefully place the chub into. They are often never in there for that long given that the rivers I fish are very small so action is pretty rapid if its going...

    Chasing chub....

I've got a cadence 14ft #4 rod arriving today. I can't wait to get it tested out against fast flows and barbel and chub. Leigh from cadence has very kindly put a counter weight into the handle to balance the rod perfectly. I know they are heavier that the drennan however they pulled near 14lb...

    Chasing chub....

Monster great job look at the girth on it👏. I had no scales with me yesterday but I was shocked by just how wide and deep chub can get relative to the length of them. I was trying to draw simalies with bass but I don't think its woks they are denser. I Won't post my chub success yesterday now...

    Chasing chub....

Just needs some chips around it in the second one 😄 to finish the photo. @Ben Marr I saw you posted that lovely chub and photo on the culm group I'm assuming they were from there? A cracking fish from they. That's literally the biggest I've ever caught never got the 4lb ! A solid fish for such a...

    Chasing chub....

No problems in the conversation all good here 👌. I messaged the club concerned they've applied for a license to cull them however it wasn't granted based off it being a semi urban setting. Which I understand I guess. What gets me is the damage they can cause and inflict very quickly verses how...

    Fishflix.

I may well be late to the party with this and sorry if its been done to death?! I'm not one to fling mud but in light of recent discovers about Mr Bowle. Certain antics with regards filming barbel fishing on the wye and what he has seemingly done for the cameras I've stopped following his...

    Chasing chub....

Yes it sounds awful 😖! Such a sad state of affairs on so many rivers up and down the country. The small river I got onto yesterday would appear to be being affected significantly from cormorant predation 😢

Wow that's a great result especially from how you described the water!! I hope that clears and didn't hang around!

    Chasing chub....

So am update after your request. I'm not quiet sure in think this is my 3rd winter of the tone.. Inreality I only get there 2 or 3 time a season. I was told its a winter in my venue due to weed and lack of flow however I now know this not to be true. Another think I hear is how cormorants are...

    Books on float fishing

Being laid up recently I read the above JW book and it's float fishing contents. It's a pretty decent read and quiet iconic book to own. I have another of his on species and baits again a informative read. Being a fan of JW growing up as boy and watching his series inspired me an and many other...

    Chasing chub....

My laughing face was at the barbel stocking 🤐. I'm guessing that was up above Silverton mills so the m5? I didn't really fish that far up only one trotting. Yes I'm in the fast of the tone tomorrow. Cannot wait is been a tough old month of Ill health following complications after a routine...

    Chasing chub....

Thanks Andrew that's good to know. Yes I'm aware of the potential for them but I've never fished it for coarse fish only on the fly. I used to fish the culm a lot 16-17 years ago. A stunning little river and an incredible range and size if species. Some barbel were even showing and being caught...

    Chasing chub....

Ian that looks and sounds like a great few hours trotting to me!!! Chunky little barbel right there. Just found this thread and have really enjoyed dropping into it. Not living on of near any substantial rivers I only have a couple of smaller ones to go at in Devon and Somerset. Chub are the...

Travel 8ft float rod 5 piece.

@Daniel Earl thanks for sharing its very much OK to not be OK. Use men need to recognise that soo much more than the women. Trust you've got the friendship and support in your journey. I literally messaged my neighbour the same theme this morning. I've been to some very dark places but with my...

Still damp in Ross on Wye today!!!

I live in North Devon On the coast and I've never seen the lanes like it! Some were unpassable in anything but a big become like mine. The standard lanes were literally like driving up a steam absolutely insane! A local food went to approximately 3.5 feet. Can't comprehend what the rivers are...

Ledgering upstream vs downstream pros and cons?

Thanks gents a real eye opener for me this 👌

Ledgering upstream vs downstream pros and cons?

I'm haven't fished 2 rods many times but when I have I fish one slightly downstream like 1 o'clock then the other like at 3 o'clock but further downstream. In my mind at least it has a chance of picking up fish attracted to the first rod further downstream or possibly bigger fish that hang off...
