I use ESP Cryogen curve shanks in a size 10 when Barbel fishing. Amazing hook holds. Use Kamasan animals when fishing for smaller stuff using maggot or caster etc but they've pulled out a couple times when they've hooked Barbel.

Mine came with felt but are smooth anyway compared to the felt washers in really cheap reels. Wouldn't hurt to upgrade them though.
