I love the overengineered way. I'll roll my own cheesy boilies in a HNV way with proper cheese and after the drying period I'll blitz some up in a food processor and turn into a paste wrap. To make it hookable could add some plain flour before the water.

I only have 2 Barbel rods and 2 Barbel reels. 2 Pike rods and 2 Pike reels. The rest of my feeder rods I have as many reels and just put on what I fancy at the time 😀

Is there a website anywhere that tells us what current water temps are? I'll be moving house soon so be handy to find out remotely than drive 40 minutes to the Trent only to turn back around again if the water is too cold 🥶 Would be nice if the level monitoring stations also output water...

I've not noticed the Okuma retrieve to be particularly slow. Rather the Shimano retrieve is on the fast side. A slower retrieve can help avoid the hooklength twisting up but I use coated braid hooklengths most of the time so not an issue for me. The Shimanos are a very nice reel but not worth...
