Keith and I lived very close to each other and we and others spent our younger days paddling in local streams and trying to catch sticklebacks and the very occasional roach etc. Keith and another Keith, as teenagers, both became Saturday boys at Fred Buller's tackle shop, Chubbs of Edgware...
As per title. The ratchet mechanism has 2 small springs which act on the triangular ratchet 'tooth'. One of them has broken, unfortunately the wrong one to continue using it. Anyone know who could supply such a spring?
Thanks.
I'd be very surprised if there were no Cray's in the Colne down there, they're everywhere else on the river and in the Thames.
I'd second Richard's suggestion of the upper Lea. Very few crays and no shortage of barbel.
As long as you use a much stronger mainline.
I recently bought some 35lb 8 strand braid
and it's far too thin for my liking! (0.25mm)
I'll need to go up to 60lb to get that.
Be interesting to see if Barbel would take a bait on the Amnesia though.
Presumably the Amnesia is for abrasion...
If you're visiting, there's a lot to recommend about the Royalty and a lot of accommodation related to that.
Barbel catches are not what they were, to say the least but it's still a good coarse fishery for almost everything else plus the occasional sea Trout and Salmon. The harbour is also very...
JRC X-lite is generally well thought of. Light and with a decent range of adjustment. Lasts well too. Good sized mud feet.
Had mine about 5 yrs and I'd buy another tomorrow if necessary.

This will hopefully give you some inspiration.
Tell me about it. Some of my clubs waters have become overcrowded with novices to say the least. We've had to close the membership to new applications and invoke a booking system on one of the most popular river venues. Two half days only in a week and online advance booking only.
I read a fair bit of US angling literature and beaver ponds are universally thought of as great, albeit temporary (years not months) features of any river system. Great fry refuges in the now rarer floods and a great place for fish to take up residence and grow far larger than in the river...
Ebay is awash with them, from £3 upwards.
A few years back I bought 5 for £14 delivered from Singapore or Malaysia. As they're all identical it does get a bit confusing sometimes. I must get something to differentiate them.
Just had a look on Ali express and they can be got for pennies, if you...
For joining nylon/fluro to braid I use a small swivel if it's for a hooklink, for a shock leader or when a swivel isn't suitable it's got to be an Albright or Alberto knot. Looks more complicated than it is.
Double grinners etc are strong but only about 50% of the braid B.S.. If the braid is...
I once had a long weekend at a hotel in a place on the upper Trent called Kings Mills. Had a Weir pool and was great fishing, in the early days of the Barbel restocking program. The hotel had a few books from a local club for residents to use.
No idea how things are now, it was way back, around...
They're in the Thames for sure. There's a guide takes people out to Teddington Weir after predators I've seen a video where a 20lber is caught.
An EE customer of my local tackle shop reported a 35 from Sunbury. Pounds? No kilos!
