"Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing" New Series

I thought it was disgusting. The BBC have finally managed to ruin a wonderful program pushing their woke agenda like they did with 'Call the midwife'. The plant burger thing was blatant propaganda as for the rest........... I'm disappointed that they caved in to the pressure.

    Habitat destruction on The Ivel

So this is basically weed removal? Probably to alleviate flooding.

    New footwear for winter recommendations

For a bit of clarification:- I bought a pair of Arctic sports around 2017, still going strong and quite warm enough for me and I suffer with extremely poor circulation especially to my feet. Wanted to get another pair for my son but discovered that the spec had changed and now include fleece...

    What's the forecast.

Another vote for XCWeather. Can't trust the BBC not to follow their agenda.

    Habitat destruction on The Ivel

My club took a stretch a little bit upstream from Sandy. It was virtually unfishable because of the weed covering 90% of the surface. Think it was watercress. Is that why this was done or is it the usual EA vandalism?

    New footwear for winter recommendations

Another vote for the muck boots. The muckmaster for me, the new Arctic sports are too warm.

Just to clarify, what make and model is the chair in the original post?

    Deformed barbel

Indeed, they were all around 2 or 3lb and my first ever barbel came from a bit further downstream opposite that massive gravel pit. Was about 6" long.

    Deformed barbel

I once caught a small barbel from Kings weir and bringing it in it didn't feel right. When it was on the bank the reason became obvious. At some point in the past it had entered a discarded glass bottle neck and I assume grew into it. Managed to pull it off and there was a definite indentation...

    Trotting/Wading

A word of advice for anyone getting wading boots, the cheaper end of the market are crap. Soles falling off, and boots splitting. Best bet is to look out for a pair of used Simms. They are undoubtedly the best and not as ridiculously priced as the waders. I got a pair for about £50. John Norris...

    Trotting/Wading

Got two pairs of visions from Dave. Much prefer the zipped for convenience and the non zipped for the pocket arrangements otherwise. Wouldn't buy anywhere else.

    Trotting/Wading

I'd thoroughly recommend Diver Dave too. Also the breathables, stocking foot, with felt soles. Very important to add studs. Supatrack are the best. More traction on the grass and slippery weed coated rocks can be traversed with ease. A wading staff is indispensable for me, especially on rocky...

    Barbel in or near fordingbridge

I'm told the Fordingbridge park stretch is nice. I think there's a YouTube video of it.
