    Landing net woes

Slight side topic, but anyone looking for quick release adapters as mentioned earlier in the thread - take a look at the large prologic ones (about the only decent bit of kit i've ever used from them). No plastic cam locks to snap or crack, and have been very happy with mine.

    Brolly suggestions..

https://www.tacklediscounts.co.uk/products/cyprinus-rapide-mk2-60-10-000hh-carp-fishing-brolly Identical to the Aqua Fast & Light...same factory in the far east...light, sturdy with good cover for a brolly as 4 ribs touch the floor - additional 'flaps' at the front to be pegged/weighed...

    Backpack style tackle bags.

I have a Cotswold Aquarius Roamer, and have had for the last 10 years. Fantastic design, extremely well built and i can also loop my chair through the detachable straps like the Korum to make carrying easier. Not cheap, but confident that i will get another 10 years out of mine.

Personally, I would look at an inline feeder, no gum etc. and a slightly thicker gauge hook. Reduce feeder bounce as much as possible and you should be in business.
