Get the point you’re making. There’s two photos there that could have been taken within the same burst shot. Also (whilst I don’t) I can appreciate some people might want photos of both sides for identification and if done competently multiple shots could be achieved in half the time someone...
Agreed. Although my thought is when the latte mums start talking about it. When you start getting “informed” by someone who until recently didn’t know the difference between a river and lake about this “latest issue” you know it’s getting traction. I just smile and say, yeah I know.
Also a fair comment. I won’t share my opinions on parties but it often appears to me that so many have short memories and think a tie change will solve the problems that are in reality far more complex and difficult to resolve than the finger pointing brigades will ever admit. Governance is...
Isn’t the slight hole in the argument for renationalising pretty much anything, they got sold for a reason (well many) and why giving direct control to government who have failed for decades to control the situation via legislation makes little sense. It’s like handing the controls back to a bad...
I don’t know if it’s psychological or not but I feel like I get a faster/stronger response from a fresh bag of pellet. The longer it’s been sat at the back of the garage the less pulling power it seems to have.
Trouble is it’s all a bit previous now in terms of tests. Yes you’ll have ammonia because there’s decomposing fish everywhere producing it, similarly Nitrite and Nitrate as it will be there from the excess ammonia. Nitrate isn’t harmful to fish unless it’s in very high concentrations.
You’d...
Isn’t this to do with value. We’re programmed to seek out sweet things for example because sugar would be a scarce high value commodity, you even get an endorphin hit from these foods. They aren’t nutritional as such but they are high energy, junk foods appeal to us because the hunter gatherer...
I can’t get my head round these people, like Graham says it’s a social issue. I don’t know anyone personally that would litter and I’m confident that almost every parent at my kids school would brain their kids for doing it. There’s a minority of people out there that just don’t care about...
Haven’t watched it yet but I received a letter this weekend saying that the company that provides my discharge services wants to put up the bill, I feel like offering to pay for the work they actually do. Putting the environmental vandalism to one side. We’re paying these people for a service...
I believe I recall you saying about that. I can’t remember wether it was before or after your visit but one of 8.02 iirc came out about 250 yards downstream. I’m sure that’s right. There was one that lived in a margin snag, you couldn’t get at it and a sensible person was convinced it would have...
Definitely a factor. I met a chap last year and he showed me a photo of what did look a very big Chub. Well over 8 in his opinion. I enquired further and was told he doesn’t weigh them because they smell but it was definitely over 8. Having been caught out many times myself by the famous...
The D.Stour and H.Avon do hold a good head of sixes, and a good few 7s than the occasional BIG Chub. I’ve been blessed with a 7 from both but haven’t had an 8 yet.
The Avon 7 was a July fish, it was of epic proportions.
Regarding the pollution, it’s the difference in way they behave. Different compounds having different effects. Two glasses of water, one brown and one clear, the clear one could easily be the one that would kill you if drunk.
Certainly something in it G, how many times have you stood in “the hot swim” and thought why is this the swim, it’s featureless, perhaps counter intuitive to received wisdom in that scenario I think it’s often the anglers creating the feature.
That is shocking, looks like a tank battalion has been through. The environmental damage done there, not just to the aquatic environment but the terrestrial which would have been a corridor for wildlife. Have you considered speaking to your MP and local wildlife groups for added support?
