I never knew that barbel were keen on roast dinners. Are they insistent for Yorkshire puds, even with roast chicken? For myself, Yorkshire only go with roast beef.
There are hardly any in my neck of the woods (South Cambs, Bedfordshire, North Herts). Even my local clubs pile in the carp, into what were great mixed fisheries.
The IPA does nothing to help protect the Ivel, it's just an umbrella association for local clubs.
The best club to join for the river is Olney & Clifton. They have more river than any other club do and they really do look after their fishery. Check out their FB page and website.

Really won't make much difference, if we do get a reasonable amount of rain, especially in the east, where I am. Abstraction is killing our local rivers, along with pollution and predation.
After Bob and Paul's wonderful series that had non anglers clamouring to watch it, what better way to follow it up, than Paul Whitehouse highlighting the appalling failure of our water companies and the EA, to look after our precious waterways.

I fish the Ouse and Ivel. For my money, the extremely poor catch rates are generally down to the unholy amount of abstraction, plus chemical and sewerage pollution. The Ouse wanders through some of the most heavily farmed arable countryside in the UK, plus of course there are many large towns...
