Used to fish there in my teens for the tench with Philippe Maz.

    Hinders Elips Pellets

Cast out with them and reel in after 10 minutes. The scent of the pellet will have gone.

    It’s back !!

I never knew that barbel were keen on roast dinners. Are they insistent for Yorkshire puds, even with roast chicken? For myself, Yorkshire only go with roast beef.

    Blanking

If you're after a great blanking venue, you really must try the Great Ouse, it won't let you down. 🤪

    Close Season Blues

There are hardly any in my neck of the woods (South Cambs, Bedfordshire, North Herts). Even my local clubs pile in the carp, into what were great mixed fisheries.

    River Lugg destruction court decision.

Best news would be the EA taking all these water companies to court for illegally pouring millions of gallons of raw sewage in to our rivers.

    Very disappointing

Sadly this is not unusual with day ticket fisheries.

River Great Ouse Clubs (Chub Waters)

The IPA does nothing to help protect the Ivel, it's just an umbrella association for local clubs. The best club to join for the river is Olney & Clifton. They have more river than any other club do and they really do look after their fishery. Check out their FB page and website.

River Great Ouse Clubs (Chub Waters)

The EA had their contractors virtually clear my little Ivel out of any aquatic weed in August and rip out ancient Norfolk reed beds. They cut the weed every August and just pile it up on the banks. The roach have taken a huge hit from the cormorants since so much cover has been ripped out of the...

    Very disappointing

Sounds like a day fishery that's not baliffed.

    Drought again this summer?

Really won't make much difference, if we do get a reasonable amount of rain, especially in the east, where I am. Abstraction is killing our local rivers, along with pollution and predation.

Paul Whitehouse: Our Troubled Rivers BBC March 5th

After Bob and Paul's wonderful series that had non anglers clamouring to watch it, what better way to follow it up, than Paul Whitehouse highlighting the appalling failure of our water companies and the EA, to look after our precious waterways. The BBC certainly brave to cover this issue so...

    river reports

I fish the Ouse and Ivel. For my money, the extremely poor catch rates are generally down to the unholy amount of abstraction, plus chemical and sewerage pollution. The Ouse wanders through some of the most heavily farmed arable countryside in the UK, plus of course there are many large towns...
