    Low stretch mono

I agree with Keith here can’t see the advantage in low stretch line. With the lunges and runs barbel do and go on I couldn’t think of anything worse.

    Rig shark tip lights.

Ended up ordering some. Impressions of them without actually using them in a fishing situation are they are extremely bright. Also I’m a bit worried they are too sensitive. Maybe when fishing and cast out with a bit of tension on the line they might be ok but I recon any wind will set them off...

    Rig shark tip lights.

Had a look at a review on YouTube and the guy said in wind they were flashing. I quite like the look of these and like that they lie flat but they look so bright that they’d annoy me. Are they only green and flash red or can you get red ones?

    Missed hook ups

Had a similar problem few years back. Decided to target a deep peg on the middle Severn that no one really fished for a month. First day had a couple but missed a couple of slamming bites that nearly had my rod away. Second day similar but missed more bites. Decided to shorten the hooklink to...

    BIG CHUB

Iv only ever caught 3 6’s and 2 of those came 5 days apart. Never had anything over 5lb other than them 3. I don’t tend to catch that many chub though to be fair

    river reports

I still post in the river captures but changed my fishing over the last 5 years from fishing easy stretches to not so easy but bigger fish to pretty dam hard for the last 2 years. I used to fish last few hours on an evening 3 times + a week but now tend to do 1 or 2 sessions a week but longer...

    Hook Bait Company

Me and a mate considered starting a bait company 15+ years ago. We brought a load of rolling tablets and different ingredients to make baits to test out but without an air powered gun it was a mission to roll any kind of amount and we were too poor to get a setup capable of making big quantities...

    Korum ruckbag alternative

Had my korum bag since 2020 and Had no problem with it. I’d say it’s way betther than the last bag. Only downside I would say is straps are a little tight depending on your size but could get around that if needed

    Midland tench water

My mate had the record in one of the lakes years ago. He was vexed it wasn’t a carp but took a photo anyway. The bailiff informed him in the morning and asked for the picture for the website. He told me about it and how annoyed he was at the time and said to have a look at the website at the...

    Head torches and swim disturbance

I use an old 3 led energiser that even with new batteries isn’t particularly bright. But I only use the red light until I come to play a fish and even then I turn it on briefly to help me get to the edge of the bank without falling in and occasionally to see where the line is going if I think...

    Best lightweight umbrella?

Iv got one of them in my fishing bag lol. The strap is a bit uncomfortable though

    Pike

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I was always under the impression that below a certain depth the water temperature stays around 4 degrees all year round. And I think that depth is around 8 feet. Doubt that transfers to running water though as surely it’s always mixing together

    Xmas pressy

Had no idea you could get heated bags. To be fair I brought a 4 season bag with a peach skin throw years ago when I used to do a bit of carp fishing and I used to get too hot in that. Minus 5 is probably the coldest I fished in but even then I was down to tshirt and shorts and had to remove my...

    Photos of river scenes

That’s amazing. I occasionally get them on my rods. Only ever got a picture once and that was cause I had my phone in my hand at the time. Never had one land on my head though lol

    Upstreaming for Barbel

I use longer hooklinks if I’m fishing upstream compared to down to try keep it further away from the main line. Lead wise I use heavy enough to keep a slight bend in the rod. I prefer a tighter line to keep the line off the bottom and away from the hook link. I know others prefer to let off...

    Time for a re-think

About 25 blanks in a row for me on the lower Severn this season til I caught. Probably 20 of them I didn’t have so much as a roach fart on my bait my rod tips stayed that stationary. Gradually started getting knocks and million rig tweaks eventually landed me some fish

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Yodel were meant to deliver mine yesterday between 5:32 and 7:32. Used the tracking number to see where it was at about 2 o’clock and it said it was 44 stops away. That never changed all night and went to bed at half 10 with it still saying the same. They delivered it today at 12:30 this...

    Photos of river scenes

I packed up about 45 minutes after this pic and by that point you couldn’t see the opposite bank. Packing my stuff up with the head lamp on you could only see about 6 foot infront of yourself. Driving home was crazy. Never driven is such thick fog before
