    Luncheon Meat

Eels arent keen on sweet flavours i.e. Scopex or cream flavour type additives, scopex being my favourite ....so heavily flavour your baits by the glug in a plastic bag, in addition, once in the water, because these flavours are emulsified the scent stays hard on the bottom as they drift...

    Black pudding for bait..

What is better than black Pudding, though I haven't used black pudding to be honest, and what is a great alternative to Spam is tinned corned beef...it works. The large rings of Polish garlic sausage are also good, softer than standard meat and a lovely pungent garlic scent and taste and it...

    Anglers mail article

It was the Anglers Mail mate It was the Anglers Mail mate, but the decline of both weekly angling papers is significant and the amount of extra copies sold would have been insignificant, if any, the decline of both the weekly angling papers is dramatic and any further decline will see them...

    Anglers mail article

Let us not forget the two issues that caused so much contention and response in Mr Readings article: 1. He accused night barbel anglers as being mindless, lazy, unthinking, monotonous, irresponsible, greedy, desperate to catch a fish and the act of actual of night fishing to lackluster (?)...

A Question. Is there an answer? Floods.

Already been done 2 years ago on the Teme, by Dr Katie Guttman Roberts, funded by the EA, Severn rivers trust and the The Barbel Society ... it basically told us there isnt much wrong with the Teme other than there arent many barbel....

A Question. Is there an answer? Floods.

I can understand your concern Graham, I have have fished the lower Severn and Teme for its big barbel for 30 years and the lower Severn is a notoriously and historically a late starter, due to barbel of all sizes hanging around Digils and Teme mouth until the first push of water drops them down...

A Question. Is there an answer? Floods.

People blame all things for the demise of the barbel, be it loss of habitat, abstraction and pollution or predation, so without wishing to get into a heated debate, here is my basic opinion, based on scientific evidence, anecdotal evidence, and personal experience . If the rivers were perfect...

    Are Barbel the "new"carp ?

I can understand that some anglers think that barbel could be seen as the "new Carp" some anglers have adopted carp fishing methods to fish for barbel, even by introducing a new description of "Carbeling", I can see that this particular method of this type of barbel fishing is attractive to...

    Korum bolt and run

Well I dont find it too disruptive Richard, but fixed lead rigs only score on bolt rig set ups of hair rigs, if you are using hooks that are buried into the bait such as meat, paste, flake, cheese etc. fixed leads are definitely a disadvantage....I have seen the Korum kit and it is ingenious...

    Korum bolt and run

James, no need for any of this, get some dissolving rig foam nuggets, directly above the lead place the foam, then wrap the line around 4 times, fold the foam in half and moisten the one end, press the two ends together, the foam takes a couple of minutes to dissolve once in the water, this...
