There couldn't have been much of interest there. I scrolled through several pages and there was zero fishing tackle for auction. I gave up on the idea of scrolling through 11 pages of items.
I understand that the main Wykeham's lake is quite a tough nut to crack Paul. The 'overstocked' small trout waters always are. Or have they reduced the trout stocking on there now? I confess to being totally out of touch on piking matters these days. It's worth a day or two on Chew though if...
Chew could be quite temperamental Paul. A good piking friend of mine fished it for 12 years and the biggest he managed was 25 Lbs. He is very good piker and has had well over 150 x 20's. That puts it into context. I've known many struggle on that water when they appear to be doing it correctly...
Yes a stunning fish. The big fish are corkers in there. There was never a bait boat ban on there, at least, not up until I last pike fished it in 2018. Freshwater deads (and live-baits depending on the way that you look at it) bans were the nearest they ever got to restrictive rules on there. I...
Agree with all the recommendations on Delkims. I purchased 2nd hand originals over 20 years ago. Still using today and going strong. I also hardly change the batteries nor get them serviced. You can buy today on eBay for about £40.
I'm sure digitals are accurate when new. It's just their reputation for reliability that I have a problem with. I wouldn't want to be in a position, on a wet night, in a remote location, beset by problems weighing a fish of a lifetime. Wet, damp cold environments are not good for electronic...
Yes my first set (late 70's) weighed up to 32 lb. I forget what happened to them. My current set (2nd hand) weigh up to 40 lb. I know that there's a scale checking service at the Barbel and Tenchfisher conferences for a nominal fee 👍.
Anyway apologies for being off post. But probably being the...
With all the adverse feedback from digital scale users, I can't see the point in owning a set. They seem nothing but trouble. I've had my critics in the past for holding this opinion. Probably best sticking with good old fashioned dial scales. Avon's or Reuben Heatons. Incidentally, can you...
There are so many credible witness accounts of their existence all over the UK. The Chipping Norton example being
conclusive if witnessed. One I read yesterday, was from an ex Grampian force police officer. In the 80's he was observing a big black leopard in his locality, through a telescopic...
I read one of the Corbett books many years ago. A very interesting read. That's what came to mind, an aged animal, unable to catch the abundant prey that abound in rural England, suddenly becoming a danger.
On a different subject...the identification of these cats that leave tracks. Samples can...
At least he gave an honest answer. Although a highly irresponsible action in many respects. Certainly explains why there were so many sightings at about that time. I'm just surprised, that there hasn't been a reported negative interaction with a human being.
If you're using on the big waters Bait Blaster 1's (Dave Lumb again) are worth considering . They're 12 foot 3.5 lb tc Harrison banks. They're proven hook setters and fish players at extreme range using big baits. They're the rods that I own that I wouldn't sell.
