Hi Julian, you mention Bucks in your post …where are you? I have one I bought mainly for Tench fishing (not used on the river yet Despite its name) but will use later in year on the river. Lovely reel and I don’t find the check problematic

After draining your hemp David, add some hemp oil (or any other you fancy) then vacuum seal…thus draws the oils into the hemp and prevents dehydration if you also freeze it

On the back of recommendations on here I got the Vass700e…. For me they have been excellent even on the hottest days. Quality is superb and they roll down relatively small so I just leave in the car.
