about to respool my reels I use for floodwater fishing and have used fox Exocet 23Ib last few years but this seems to be out of stock everywhere, or postage is too much for my liking…so wondering what do others recommend?
Got quite a few and love them….i remember at one time they had a specialist barbel section with its own counter and would often have one if the ‘names’ in situ and great range of tackle, this was height if the Ouse phenomenon , just a shame they were a bunch of miserable sods who owned the shop!
I remember when these were released, pretty sure they did them also in green and gold. Quite pricey at the time too….you used to be able to find the old Leslie’s catalogues online, can’t remember the name of the site where people upload old magazines and catalogues, others may know
Hi Lee, I know someone who floatfishes this section with success….typically smaller stamp of fish but good sport. The favoured peg is the one just up from the weir car park next to the sluice/outlet….must be about peg 10?? But can’t remember, and fishing the inside line
Shame, had some good service over the years from them…but unfortunately a sign of the times, fewer people are spending their money on leisure activities, luxuries etc. you only have to look at the classifieds on this forum to see the market isn’t the same as 24 months ago…..been done incredible...
So annoying when something great is ‘upgraded’ but turns out worse! I’ve taken to buying 2 or 3 of something when I find a winner, think I got 2 of the original bait bags in the loft😂
Could you share the link for these please mark….in down to my last pack of the older stops, they were perfect for 8mm weren’t they, never found any as good!
If room and clear of bushes/debris etc I tend to walk off about 50ft or so of line with no end tackle on, before or after a session and wind back between fingers feeling for any damage, also helps remove any twist if you do it a few times. Any damaged line is removed. Usually replace whole spool...
IMO there are some definite exceptions to this…Shimano Stradic GTMs, super aero GTMs - the ones made in Japan are far superior to modern ones in engineering, clutch and ‘robystness’, baitrunner XTEAs are far superior to modern equivalent baitrunners. I will concede that the new aero match reels...
They bring back some memories, had those on my carp rods in the 90s…12Ib big game and a liberal coating of Kryston greased lightning and you could cast to the horizon. Proper workhorses and built to last but they did suffer from a sticky drag after getting wet so had to dry them out in the...
For those of you that like this line (I think it’s great) you can get it for £5.99 for 250m spools here at moment ….normally a tenner I think
