    Perch

Had a similar problem in the Ouse before….was using whole prawn over chopped prawn, worm and spraying maggot over the top occasionally. After having a chat with a local matchman he said I was probably overfeeding the small fish for the time of year and I should just try very sparingly flicking...

    Fish Flix

Only mags I buy now is catch cult and Fallons occasionally Tbh I rarely watch fishing vids as I find the mind numbing tedious tripe (exception of Mortimer and whitehouse but that’s not a fishing programme really) but have been pleasantly surprised with fishflux

    Fish Flix

I decided to take a punt on this to watch whilst recovering fro surgery …there is a great selection on there well worth a short term sum imo, and good quality Years ago I used to buy every angling mag going and never read most of the repetitive crap….was just worried I’d miss out on some vital...

Test curves Vs line and casting weight

Agree with this….specialist rods are just that, rods built for a specialist application and manufacturers such as Harrison design a blank for that purpose. I may be wrong but I would imaging the TC rating is measured once they have the model designed and add this to the product description...

    Crayfish

Tin of pineapple rings…there’s a thought😂 I was talking flavoured baits

    Crayfish

I believe there is anecdotal evidence that pineapple flavour deters them, not tried it myself. It’s a pain having to deal with them and I personally don’t believe using plastic/mesh/weed and other hard baits does much as delay the inevitable - they will still mess with your end tackle possibly...

    Boilie favourites/recommendations?

As an aside to this…I had a very interesting chat last week with someone who used to be a big name in the carp bait world; now this might be something that is not news to you but was to me - the baits provided to bait testers was/is made from top quality ingredients to get the results, then...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

When working correctly it should clip over the collar easily, and often slips back off during a barbel fight ….shouldn’t be any problem with that! As Dave said maybe a mix up with sizes?

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

I had my best season on the Ouse last year, by introducing a bait into an area downstream of a known holding spot or likely looking area then waiting it out, sometimes for 4/5/6 hrs with minimal casting/disturbance. All my fish were caught in daylight. On low stock rivers I believe it can take a...

    Fishing a river in flood

Hi Matt, plenty of advice in previous posts about fishing floods in general, not specific to Ribble. Many advocate a nice glide of brisk walking pace…including me. This isn’t very high water but this might give you an idea …a lovely fast glide over gravel between weedbeds I think is a good bet...

    Treating yourself.

Sounds like you have what you need tackle wise, how about just sticking some funds in a savings account/premium bonds which is just your treat money….then at some point something will grab your attention, wether it be a trip or tackle, then you have the funds set aside just for if??

    Fish intelligence

Fish, just like all other species that have made a success out of surviving and evolving over millennia, do they demonstrate a high mental capacity…I don’t think so, do they demonstrate self-awareness…again, I don’t think so. but can they learn to avoid predators and recognise danger…of course...

    Folding pan net for Barbel

Replaced my Korum one with this Gardner target net 30”, had a decent drop on it for resting fish and solid metal spreader and arms. Folds easy and lightweight. Not got it wet yet, first time on bank with it now, so not really a user review but impressed with build quality

    Drennan roving bag alternative

As one recently and was impressed…like a mini ruckbag and ideal for roving sessions. Has a side handle too according to the pics online but I can’t remember seeing that on the one I saw but might have missed it

    Ebay, fees from 1st October

They are having to compete with other selling platforms…interesting to note that sale proceeds will go into an eBay balance account which will be introduced over next few weeks. I imagine eventually a charge applied here to transfer to bank to encourage use of using it to fund eBay purchases...
