Cheers guys, helps out a bit.
I try to avoid the chub and ideally want to catch barbel so looks like il have to put up with the busier banks and try the royalty.
Hi,
There's a good chance il be going down to Dorset around the end of July, i could be taking my little girl to peppa pig world for her birthday and whilst I'm down that end of the country it will probably be the only chance I get to fish the Dorset stour.
I've made a deal with the missis...
If you don't mind Julian send me your address in a private message. Il send you some of the stuff I've made for a few lads. I might be a bit biased with it but I really rate the garlic bait I do 😉
Welcome to the site lee. One of the best things I've done fishing wise is become a member of the forum. I've enjoyed myself reading and talking about barbel fishing on here and I'm sure you will aswell. 👍🏻
Like Tim said 20% is to high, they end up like rubber bullets which I'd exactly what I don't want as they can't leak off food signals like that. For a 1 egg mix I'd add 25g mate. Yeah its a milk protein aswell so has that added benefit! Great ingredient to be fair
Hi Julian I make my own baits and have done for a few years on and off also make bait for a few other lads. I've always had a keen interest in making/tinkering with bait and probably enjoy it just as much as the fishing itself. There's no magic formula to stop the crays getting to the bait, if...
I've found that tench aren't so funny when it comes to boilies. I've had plenty of tench whilst carp fishing using fishmeal boilies/pop ups. Had quite a few alright tench on sticky Krill and on the source too but these have all been by-catches of carp fishing. If it was me targeting a tench on...
Wouldn't mind getting 1 of these myself, need a new bedchair aswell. Nothing wrong with a few comforts on the bank. I'll have to see what my tax return brings in 😂.
@Terry Harman I'd definitely prefer to use a high quality bait over just anything. Like you said right time of the year. I would much prefer to use a boilie and in winter use a high quality food source designed towards cold water fishing but still full of vitamins, aminos, proteins and a high...
@Mike Hodgkiss 100%, I think I mentioned at the start of the post they'll eat anything but it's a confidence thing on my half. Like I'm a big fan of using a big lump of meat in the edge or fairly close in, where as I haven't got the confidence to give it a chuck out incase it comes off the hook...
Thanks Neil. A good friend of mine uses them for his Carp fishing. I'd say there a fairly big company though. Well known in the carp world and well advertised in magazines. I could possibly end up using them though. The Atlantic heat would be my choice.
Seen them but never used them. They do seem a good company but there's a lot of options to pick from in the range. Makes me sort of think how come there not mixing all these ingredients together and making a smaller range of superior boilies instead of a list of ones with separate attractors.
Sorry Mike, retro baits was the name of the company I was using for boilies. We all have our favourite ways of catching barbel, some people like to roll meat whilst some people like to fish static. Others like to use the older baits you mentioned and fish pins whilst others use fixed spools and...
I've thought about baitworks in the past. A bit to big and commercialised for me now though I think 🤔 although it's still a possibility. The Atlantic heat sounds right up my street. But what are the actual levels of fishmeals in there? Not so sure if I trust these bigger companies.
Thanks Mark, just had a look at the stuff they do, I'd much rather use a smaller company like them than the mass produced stuff. The 3RB and the crab look promising. The vamp sounds good too, I do like a garlic bait. How long you been using them for mate?
