Just for a bit of fun guys and Halloweens only around the corner. I've always liked listening to spooky/ghost tales, even though I'm not a believer myself I've always found some of the story's interesting. So... has anyone had any weird/spooky experiences on the bank?
I've enjoyed this thread too, it's mad to see how a lot of anglers are convinced that milk proteins are better to use in the winter though. I understand people moving away from fishmeals in the winter due to oils. I use a low oil fishmeal year round, I just don't use a lot of it. But ideally a...
Hi Steve, I make some videos for YouTube and I've just come back off 2 days on collingham, I was using some homemade fishmeal hookbaits and whilst the crabs did have a go they couldn't get through to them due to the amount of milk proteins I put in them which naturally hardens them. I also...
I don't think there would be anything on the market that is pure milk, it would cost a bomb to make an produce. Have a look at sourcing milks in tons Nether mind kilos, the cost is crazy. Would be looking at about 25quid a kg of boilies easy. The closest thing to a pure milk would probably be...
Hi Dan, to keep it short and simple. Spice flavours and additives work extremely well with milks. I've made my own milk protein basemixs with plenty of spices in and can tell you from first hand experience they work just as well as fishmeals. Keep in touch and let me know how you get on 👍🏻
I'm usually a boilie user and probably use them as much as I can. I always get the matching basemix to the boilie I'm using and add a few powders and liquids to it and use roll them as my hookbaits.
If I can find a nice area close in though where I don't have to cast so far I do like to use a...
I think it's freezer burn mate, try wrapping the food bag in a towel see if that helps, I've never took much notice to it and used them regardless but I'm sure I read somewhere a few years ago it's from the pack touching the sides of the freezer and other frozen stuff.
Liver, a brilliant ingredient in a basemix especially used alongside my favourite ingredient, garlic
I use cc moores Pacific tuna if I'm not making my own but I always buy some basemix to make my own hookbaits with. I add a few little extras to it just to give it my own edge and in my opinion...
If I lived closer Neil I'd fish the lower, would love to do a bit down there. Don't know why I keep putting it off. Probably down to feeling like I'm far to up against it with the pollution and predation problems.
Maybe due to it not being there natural home, yeah theyve done well, survived and flourished but its true they dont seem to put weight on like they do other rivers. On the lower severn maybe there's a chance but I still doubt it.
I've fished the severn all my angling life but only the middle and...
@Matthew Holland-Ryder I ended up making my own in the end mate, so far I've been using them but I'm going to use cc moores tuna and their odyssey xxx for the foreseeable future. There bringing a liver bait soon aswell, I reckon that will be a good bait especially in the winter
