I am sad to report that Brian Crawford passed away yesterday. Many on here will know of Brian he was on the committee of NASG, NASA the SAA and Anguila club as well as being a Barbel Catchers member back in the 70s I believe. RIP Brian.
Sourced some Berkley Fireline on ebay here is the link if you need some it's by far the best stuff I have found for trotting.

Hi Julian honestly it's a game changer. Don't forget a lot of grayling anglers use braid too. The best I have found by a country mile is Berkley Fireline. From a few feet away even looks like mono. I have had a lot of barbel this year on the float and even more chub.
Yes I had the handle shortened by about 2 inches and the reel seat screwed down to the butt not up. It's perfect for what I need so getting roger to put the same on the other 2 I have.
Bloody hell thats a bit pricey on those. Good job I have 3 of the originals. Roger puts fatter corks and fuji reel seats. The shop bought ones have slim corks and fuji top and ring adjuster. Not the full reel seat.
I am surprised they launched them early. My free spirits are made up by Roger Hurst who makes the high end bespoke stuff for Freespirit. So I go for better rings and reel seats anyway. Have they published the prices?
Chinese rings, sacrificing cork for Eva, fatter blanks.
Your not selling it to me Kev
I have an original version and tbh I don’t particularly like the rings on that either. Probably out of China aswell. Bloody free spirit cheap skates.
12-20% weight saving. Now is that on the guides...
Is that the new ones they are releasing this week Kev.
I think it will be early in the season. I was due to test the prototypes late summer but they couldn't get the rings out of China. 14, 15, 17 ft power floats. They do look the business and the blank looks marginally fatter the the original.
I have just seen the prototype 15ft freespirit hi s power float rod today. Very nice it looks too. Shortish handle for better balance and a very nice reel seat.
I have been using Kampa spray for a couple of years its does a brilliant job on waterproofing jackets hats even canvas shoes. A large tin for around £6.
