I hadn't noticed Graham tbh, but the ones I'm using at the moment are probably a year old so may be larger ? Still great pellets though, catch me lots of fish.
Ian, like you I have caught lots of barbel on the 13' Avenger II and always been amazed at its performance. But like a lot of people I have been drawn to longer rods believing they offer better control, a rod I like using is the Hardy Marksman 15' Supero and I also now have the new Freespirit Hi...
I use the bank tackle hooks as I find I can sharpen then a good few times before the point becomes to short but in your situation sounds like its worth giving them a go !
Hi Simon, for barbel I would very rarely leave the hook in for longer than 30 minutes, usually more like 15, but that's feeder fishing on rivers like the Wye, Severn, Trent. On a lower density river maybe an hour as I personally do not like the bait and wait approach.
I cant ever think of a scenario when I just wanted to change the hook ? If the hook lost its sharpness then a quick file with a sharpener sorts that. However, I regularly find a nick in the hook length material that necessitates a new hooklength, generally after landing a fish.
why do you need a 40l or 45l rucksack for roving ? they look way too large to me and must be very heavy if you re filling them ? But i do agree finding the right rucksack for the job is difficult !!
Garry, I haven't fished HL for years but it was always busy. Id recommend the Coombys Farm stretch on the BAA ticket, easy parking in the farm yard and lots of river to go at, some decent fish to low doubles present too. in current conditions a 50g feeder will hold.
Rob, I was looking for one and then got the John Wilson one from AD new for £80, really impressed with it except for the handle where the dillon is poor quality. Good blank though ad handled some big carp very well.
