Just wondering aloud if MB’s health issues are a recurrence or secondary issues relating to him having contracted Lime’s Disease a few years ago. I think Lime’s can be a bit of a bastard like that and I’m not sure it ever really goes away once you’ve had a dose.
It is. We’re all quick to slate a company when we feel we’ve been turned over (and so we should), but equally we really ought to spread the word when they go the extra mile. It’s the only way they’ll learn not to try and mug us off.
I‘ve been thinking for a while now about one of the cadence...
A few minutes….? That long…?
I lasted for a a matter of seconds before I folded on the first episode.
It‘s almost as if they set out to be as knobish as they possibly can.
Nothing wrong with threads that go off topic from time to time. I always liked this quote by a regular on a ( now defunct) old forum I was on. It became something of a mantra on the site and summed the place up very eloquently.
"A good web discussion should be like a good pub chat -...
There’s been something of a lack of fish in this series so far. But it just proves that old quote:
“ The fishing was great, it was the catching that was bad….”
Tonight‘s episode was very good.
Would assume Wayne’s after a set of these.

different from bread punches, and yes, seemingly out of stock everywhere.
Yes, JRC chairs are built like a tank. I have a Relaxa Recliner for when I’m fishing not too far from the vehicle. The drawback, of course, is that they’re heavy.
For the river and longer walks from the vehicle I use a Fox dura lite but is not a chair that will tolerate nineteen stone for too long.
Anything by Jon Berry is always good and very well researched. A Can Of Worms is no exception. Not barbel related of course but Beneath The Blackwater is just brilliant. An absolute odyssey of a book about Ferox trout. It ranks with the very best angling books.
Agreed. It was getting rather pricey a few years ago, especially considering it was a paper back.
I thought Fred Crouch’s Understanding Barbel was very good too, though I seem to remember a few posts on here (or perhaps elsewhere) being a bit critical of it.
The "same old, same old" to you might not be to others. There are plenty of other channels.
Quite. If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it. Besides, what’s not too like: good banter, beautiful scenery, a bit of fishing, nicely filmed with a good music score.
I thought this last episode was very...
Very true.
with the value of money melting away like an ice cube with a hair dryer pointed at it well bought and looked after quality tackle is as good place as any To put your cash.
Both my GS 750 and 850 have anodised alluminium spools which unless they have been replaced, which I doubt, means that GS doesn’t relate to the spool material.
Rich,
I have a GS 850. You may remember I mentioned it when you dropped the feeders over. Sadly one of the gears (the nylon one that drives the spool oscillation) has been stripped so I’m guessing this makes it beyond just a normal service. Anyhow here’s a photo I took.
A recent life changing event (and very nearly life ending) gave me thought to having a good sort of my surplus fishing kit and this thread has inspired me sit down and list the lot. Horrifyingly, I realise I’m something of a collector hoarder and much of this will be moved on the coming months...
I’d almost forgotten about him. Such is the pace of life it seems like an age ago when he was posting those rather abstract but amusing posts about the burbot in the river Pinn.
I wonder whatever happened to him.
A little of both for me, though I find the lines are blurred slightly. for convenience, I often make up a paste out of base mix mixed with eggs, and chuck in a few extra ingredients like balachan or wheat gluten to make the paste more spongy. Sometimes rolled into sausages or soap bar and boiled...
