Avon rod - lightweight eye choice

Because they are strong and I like them. I see no detrement to the action of the rods I have which are fitted with treble leg guides. The Kigan guides are very light.

Avon rod - lightweight eye choice

My factory built chimeras were fitted with Kigan guides at Harrisons. Without looking I think they are double or treble leg all through. I like them a lot, genuine quality guides.

    Hardy Marksman rod discussion

Going off the excellent quality of the blanks they must have used a top shelf carbon....possibly from Japan? I imagine there are other countries producing carbon cloth equally as good as the carbon made in Japan these days. People still slate anything made in china, yet china can make top...

    Hardy Marksman rod discussion

Talking expence, I've no idea what carbon was used to make the marksman rods, but there is no question it is top shelf material. As far as i'm aware hardy shipped their own equiptment to china and their staff where there to oversea the manufacture of the marksman rods which were obviously made...

I'm not disputing the quality of the whips, their construction etc, i'm just not a fan of whips no matter how top end they are. Japanese do export top carbons though, as an example the Touray carbon used to make the sphere rods.

What float rod you afrer HZ? Yup, the rod is 3 sections in the solid top configuration. When set up as a quiver tip it has the but section, normal mid section, then a carrier section for the tips, it's a very neat set up which looks and feels fantastic.

    Barbel float Rod difference Diawa

Ok, that would be easy enough to reach fishing 8 or 9ft of depth using a ten foot rod Rich. The 10ft rod i'm thinking about is a 2.25lb test scope, the action isn't fierce but it will slow down and tire a fish out nicely. Another couple of rods I like to use in those kind of scenarios is the...

    Barbel float Rod difference Diawa

i can manage to cast virtually the depth of my 10ft scope rod if needed Richard. Obviously not a long distance but deffo adequate enough for smallish rivers.

I think they do pretty much everywhere.....if you allow them to 😉.

    Barbel float Rod difference Diawa

In that situation I would use a shorter more powerful rod, for e.g. maybe a rod like the 10ft 2 1/4 test nash scope I have and fish a reliable and robust mono such as 8lb sensor direct to a 10s or even an 8s superspade hook. I would use the larger than normal hook size simply to lessen the...

    Barbel float Rod difference Diawa

Funny enough, I find barbel hardly run in small rivers, they just seem to swim short distances up and down stream and then try to hug the bottom under the rod tip ( in my experiences that is). After saying that i've only ever had barbel of between 10 to 11lb in a small river. I found I didn't...

Tri-Cast John Allerton Rod, anyone use it?

No doubt companies are using them to save on costs. I don't find them to be so bad as to change them, i'd just prefer them to have been fujis.
