When I have fished barbless hook waters the mouth damage on fish is far far worse than on waters that allow barbed hooks.

We caught about 30 carp and a few rudd.
The mouths of many of the fish were awful. Barbless only
It's a simple answer for me.
Does the rod I own do everything pretty much that I want it to in terms of species and size caught.

There were a number of multi length rods 13/15 15/17 ft as well as a few straight lengths in the Ultra II range.

There are good fish around, just not so prolific as 15+ years ago when 5 fish incl 3 doubles wasn't unusual when I was guiding.

Incidently, I'm using some line marker painted on the line and stopping it on the cast as it comes off the reel.
I always have a fear, clipping up, that the whole lot may go lakeways on a rogue screamer.
