Absolutely agree again Howard!! Why do so many anglers assume that it has to be one way or the other??
They are protected, why not find away of protecting the fish too? It has just been passed that they can now be moved, (which was never allowed to happen previously) this is a giant step...

Not as many fish in most rivers as there used to be Graham, maybe that explains some of it....lots of people fishing the same stretches for the same fish also. No doubt those fish left are wising up a bit too, with less competition for food, that odd knock may have been a fish saying "no...

And then there is the tidal Trent.......but of course as Neil stated, a slightly different kettle of fish, as the Severn (Bristol Channel) has the second highest tidal reach in the world.
No-one mentioned the Wye...The Wye has Barbel on the tidal reaches at Tintern! Not sure though, whether they are caught when the tide runs off (I think this was the case for a friend recently) or when it peaks... It does seem to make sense that they would move more with the river backing up and...

It was one of those sessions Chris and Jeff, and you never stop learning really. Just as the Barbel distribution thread is proving....those fish move, and sometimes congregate for various reasons. I have witnessed this on other rivers also, but managing to be in that right place at that right...
