I don’t have a problem with the acolytes handle. I’m quite impressed with the colour matching on the filler and the fact it hasn’t fallen out.
The rod is at least £100 cheaper than the daiwa was and it was probably made somewhere in the far east but to high QC standards.
I wouldn’t expect...
your looking at the darker tarnished parts of the cork which all qualify corks have and they get darker throughout use.
You must of handled enough rods to know this.
These are not cracks nor are they remotely deep enough to warrant filling they are literally just under flush.
They are not...
I’d have to see that to believe it because there’s no comparison when I look at mine
The acolyte handle doesn’t remotely come close to the Daiwas in terms of cork quality. The daiwa ones I have here don’t have any filler in them whatsoever.
You’re absolutely right Kevin and I think the answer is people casted properly and had no choice.
I used to fish for chub with a paternoster rig which was a piece of line tied to my main line with a 4 turn water knot.
Shot on 1 end and hook on other. Nothing to stop tangles apart from decent...
Must admit I don’t get tangles with them
I have changed the sleeves on mine for longer stiffer booms to kick it right out but the original has worked tangle free for me since i started using them.
Stupid question but you do feather your casts right?
I’m a Yorkshire man 😂
There’s also the fact that you fish very rocky rivers. You probably go through more of them then I do making the cost savings more viable
My Hook links are all pre tied they have a loop tied on the end and I tie them up by the dozen as and when.
As I don’t tie my hook links while setting the complete rig up then i wouldn’t include the time taken to tie that loop into the set up so no there is no 2nd knott to tie when setting up...
A faff ….. It doesn’t get any less of a faff and it sounds like your tying two knotts graham to your size 8 swivel where as this system can be put together in 20 seconds and 1 knott
Push line through ring and bead, tie a knot to quick change swivel…….. hook length just loops over the swivel...
You can yes but It’s not a standard attachment.
The way my bag and chair connect is not using the Korum hooks. My chair has its own set of back pack straps and the bag is fitted to that. So I’m carrying the chair which is holding the bag rather than carrying the bag which is holding the chair...
The Korum isn’t better it’s actually not as good in terms of material quality and robustness.
It’s the chair I use now and the fact the Korum is substantially smaller.
The Korum size and the way my chair works has swayed me to use this full time. The fox bag is a big bag. It’s got a bit of...
Maybe not slack but is there areas of slower and faster water available to look at?
I don’t know the Ribble at all so I wouldn’t even attempt to tell you what is and isn’t there but does your section have any nice bends?
You often find a raging river will do one of 2 things on a bend...
There has been a number of stockings done at offord but only 1 or 2 of them caught over several years. The first stocking was 2017
Any survivors should be 6-8lb by now
I’m not saying they don’t move but Chris was saying in that instance if you wait all day for a bite, then it’s unlikely the fish was there in the first place.
I disagree. I think it’s just as likely that the fish was there all along. I have seen them quite often sit undercover and stay there...
On a low stock river Ian 3 or 4 barbel like that is a gold mine and waiting for them to move out and feed is far more proactive than moving somewhere else prematurely. I totally get what you say, which if populations are plentiful is more viable than waiting for a couple of fish to drop their...
Absolutely disagree with that. They will happily sit under or around a feature for hours moving no more than yard or two around the areas they feel safe especially in tough conditions.
This photo was taken on the river nene of afew very big barbel with their heads tucked under that raft.
They...
I think I’d rather use my roving time to figure a few swims out. I won’t just pick up my gear and randomly cast in the next peg for half an hour in the hope that something is sitting there.
Yes it’s something I’ve tried and honestly it’s not being very successful.
If I don’t know what is...
