    Brolly type shelters

I've not seen one in the flesh, but if you're after something quick to erect but compact, the Nash PegOne day shelter could fit the bill. The storm sides look like they can be pegged quite far forward if needed and the headroom also looks good.

    Mission Accomplished!

Hi Andreas Well done on achieving your goal so early in the season. It is something I'd like to try if i had more time on my hands. If you're after a 13' trotting rod that packs up compact, why not take a punt on a JW Youngs 5pc Trotter? Not used one so can't comment on what they fish...

    Chris Brown Nets

Thanks for the responses guys. Oh and Clive, I had read that but it seemed one bad review out of many good ones. Maybe I'll go with the drennan after all and see how long I can make it last.

    Chris Brown Nets

Hi all Been looking at net handles for some time. Have looked at the Drennan SS and quite liked it, but had been put off by some of the posts on here. £50 seems alot for something which so many people have had faults develop. A few on here really seem to rate Chris Brown nets. Considering...

    Shimano XT4000 FA

Thanks for the feedback guys. Peter you have a PM.

    Shimano XT4000 FA

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these reels? If you have, have you also used the DL4000 FA? Is the difference in price really reflected in the performance? Can't really afford the XT as I have other stuff I need to purchase, but trying to decide whether to break the bank.

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

BTW Julian, for some reason I cannot reply to your PM. It says that either your settings are blocking them or the admins have blocked them.

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

I've not fished anywhere down that way in years. Is the arrowhead the bit where the river and canal join by Theale Lagoon? If so I once night fished it when I was a teenager. Caught some good bream up to 8lb as well as some small barbel. There was a huge mound of earth at the end of the lane to...

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

Someone else had mentioned this to me too.

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

I'm not taking it personally mate. It's no skin off my nose whether you rate the place or not. I have just noticed a few pops about it from you and wondered what the issue was. I did post a question in response to one of your posts on the river reports section but never got a reply. As you know...

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

Christ mate you really have a problem with the Wasing don't you? I know it's not perfect and there are cheaper waters elsewhere but many of us that fish it do so for other reasons. I've never found the stretches harder than those of RDAA. The numbers are capped so it's much easier to get a...

    The Kennet Cray Trapper

Heard some rather disturbing news on Friday whilst fishing the Wasing stretch at Aldermaston. I was told by one of the other anglers down there, that the trapper that's done so much good in getting rid of a lot of the crays from the Wasing waters, has had most of his traps stolen. As a result he...

    Maggots

Snap. Oh and keep that feeder going in regularly. Mind you, don't listen to me, I used 10pints two weeks ago, for the measly return of one rainbow trout. It's an expensive way to blank!

    fake baits

I have used corn and maggot but as you said always with a real offering. I've had fish on both. I am thinking of giving glow in the dark corn a go for my night fishing this season. I'll let you know how it goes if I get around to it.

    How hard is it.....

Now that is commitment. Or obsession. Possibly madness. Come to think of it, probably a bit of all three!

    Thunderstorms

Yet another reason to switch to cane eh, Hugo? ;) I've had some great sessions during thunderstorms. One particularly memorable one involved floater fishing for carp. It really seemed to stir them up. They were even rising to the baits when the storm was directly above.

    How hard is it.....

I spend all of my spare cash on fishing and the boy's football. God help me when my daughter starts dance classes or whatever! One day mate. At the moment it's an expense I can do without. Anyway, back on topic. I guess most of us know that there are anglers out there that want to catch...

    whats going wrong

Sorry Jerry, I can't make out whether or not you are actually getting any significant contact before the hook pull or not? If not then like Mark I'd guess at it being chub, especially if the bait is on a longish hair. Had it happen to me a couple of weeks back. If you seem to be making...

    How hard is it.....

Apologies simon. It may have sounded as if I'm some sort of angling martyr, I'm not. That's the type of journey I'd have if I intended a "quick" after work session or a days roving. Unfortunately when staying the night with no option of leaving experience has taught me that it's better to be...

    Crays aaaagghhh

I spoke to the wasing trapper on Friday afternoon. He said that he had got permission now to trap pretty much the entire of the kennet between Newbury and Reading. He did say that the numbers of crays in the traps on the rdaa waters had already dropped significantly. I told him that trapping...
