    Perch

Hi steve If you're planning a trip trotting I would definitely wait until we've had a decent amount of rain. It was painfully low with the flow in some sections being very slow. One of the best trotting sections is supposed to be the park stream, but I've never fished it. Most of the weed...

    Perch

Crikey, wish I'd spotted someone having a catch like that. Not that I'm one to nick other people's fish of course! On to my trip to Barton Court today. My dad and I arrived at the fishery at about 6.50. We got the gear together and walked down towards my favourite spots. Just as we were...

    Perch

Well done on your fish Mark. I had a little birthday session today on the Enbourne. Got to the river rather later than planned due to having to follow a road sweeper lorry all the way down into Aldermaston. My choice of swim looked as though it had received no angling pressure this season...

    Barbelon a pin

That's the problem with forums mate, you can read what you like into other's posts. I've read through your thread again and can't see any replies that are having a go, just some light hearted leg pulling. Mark, yes mate had a good summer on the Wasing this year. Still not been on the river as...

    Barbelon a pin

Kind of illustrates my point Chris. I remember your thread, it got across pretty much the same views as Mark's but without the resulting arguments, but then you managed it without poking a stick in the hornet's nest, so to speak. If you read PB's response in yours I think you'll also realise...

    Barbelon a pin

Hi Mark We've always had a cordial relationship on this and other forums so I hope you won't take this the wrong way. Try reading your original post on this thread again. First time I read it it seemed designed to wind people up, so hardly surprising that someone has already had a dig. So...

    Sea Bass

Was going to buy some salt minnows and saltiga minnows instead but left it too late to get them delivered. Plus delivery costs added to the saltiga bumped them up to the price that was comparable to the IMA. Unfortunately living in London there aren't too many tackle shops around that sell bass...

    Sea Bass

I bought mainly cheaper lures but thought I'd treat myself to one more expensive jobby. It coped well with rough and calm conditions, unlike the cheaper minnows I bought. It also cast exceptionally well on my short rod, only beaten for distance by my large dexter.

    Sea Bass

Oh and for the record, it was caught on an IMA Komomo SF-125.

    Sea Bass

Hi chaps Thanks for the advice earlier in the thread. Just returned from my family trip to Shanklin. Took along my 6'6" jig rod and a few lures that I picked up specifically for the bass. Managed a few hours fishing off Horse Ledge over the week. After struggling on the bass front I had an...

    Thames perch

Thanks for that Pete. I will be travelling by train so no need for parking. Is there a map on both sides of the river as we will be coming down the teddington side? I've read that fishing by the boats and pontoons is a good starting point and that alot of the fish tend to be close in. Is...

    Thames perch

Hi all After living in London for the best part of twelve years, I'm finally going to be doing a bit of fishing in the city this week. I have the day off on Friday, so I will be taking both my boys lure fishing for perch (won't sniff at a pike or zander though) in Teddington. Now I'm not...

    which baitrunner???

Cheapest I've seen these around with a lot of searching has been £62. The ST is normally the one that seels for that sort of money. Having said that I gave Eric's Angling a call to check and they quoted me £55. Wish you'd posted this a week earlier!

    Sea Bass

Thanks chaps Shaun, for what reason do you use the fluoro? Visibility? Abrasion resistance? Do you use standard mainline/hooklink fluoro or something more specialist? I have some stiff Seaguar fluoro that I believe some people use instead of wire trace.

    unhooking mat

I agree with you mate. The foam inner on mine has begun to move about so a replacement will be needed soon. I believe that Greys now do something similar. http://www.greysfishing.com/en-gb/products/accessories/fish-care/prodigy-klip-on-unhooking-mat/ Cheap too.

    Sea Bass

Hi all Apologies for asking a few of the same questions as last year (I never managed a trip for Bass in the end), but I was wondering if anyone can give me any pointers. bear in mind I will be fishing from the shore. Firstly, when lure fishing, is there a minimum rod length that is...

    fake baits

I had four fish on fake caster on Friday afternoon. The first was on two fake caster, the next three on the same plus on glued real one. I was fishing them on a fluoro hair with no glue or stop. They were on very tightly as I checked them on several occasions. I was using the Drennan ones and...

cray problems fishers green the lea

A few years ago there was a big problem with crays on the stretch of the Kennet I was fishing. There was not a spot that you'd put a bait where they wouldn't be on to it in no time. It took a bit of getting used to but once I found a bait I had confidence was going to stay on the hook for any...
