I don't really barbel fish any more David so not much to offer I'm afraid but there def seems to be something in the pineapple, worth exploring for those who like doing something different.
Interesting John as the Richworth Pineapple Hawaiian are my choice of pop-up for topping a 'snowman'. They have brought me quite a bit of success on the Thames.

I have a 42 inch CB carp net with the 9 ft handle - excellent bit of kit. Cant speak for the barbel one.
Barbel wise on the very rare occasions I fish for them intentionally i use the Leslies of Luton Insight net on a handle I picked up in one of those shops near the Stour/Avon. very sturdy...

Paul - some of the more disapointing members of the WBC have been found fishing a pole for Perch and I have made my views quite clear to them that it is the 'nancy way' and just not the done thing old boy.:p
