Used it 3 times before I realised it’s just too long for me and makes it difficult to use when I'm targeting other species from the bank.
For targeting barbel it is fantastic. Can hold it all day with no problems. I just would prefer a rod that I can use for a few purposes and a 12ft would suit...
You want a 4000 or 2500 size. The 6000 is the same rear drag body as the 10000 just a smaller spool. Depends on size of river but I use a 4000DL for the Severn during the summer on my 1.75tc and a 6000DL during floodwater or on the Trent on my 2.25tc. My 6000s then do my great all through the...
I have a pair of Drennan piker bait rods and the blanks are fabulous. 12’ 3.25tc Proper old school drennan carbon wrapped. I envisage that they are going to stop making them soon as all companies are doing they are cost saving. They decommed the piker lure rods a few years ago and they use the...
Sorry to jump in on this old thread, I've never used alarms before but I've just bough a 2 rod set S9 set that arrived today for my winter pike.
Cant argue with the price but I've noticed the receiver battery is draining FAST. Not sure if I've got a dud battery or not.
Anyone else had this issue?
Hi all,
Wanted some feedback, opinions and advice on a starter centrepin reel and line choice.
Was looking at a Sheffield but what line would you recommend for trotting for chub with the potential for the odd barbel?
Ill be pairing the reel with the new Acolyte specimen rod in 15' which has a...
This is arguably the best advice on this post.
Lobs are brilliant bait during flood as banks get washed away the worms go with it but what's more important is this method taught me early on that sometimes regardless of conditions, they will not leave the safety of a feature and using a smaller...
Any WA card holders here?
Is the Severn stretch they own any good? It looks pretty featureless from google maps and a right trek from car parking to the bank! I've heard their still waters aren't the easiest to fish either but for £50 a year, cant argue with the price!
Any other options...
I'm borderline heartbroken about MB if I'm honest. A guy that I have followed my whole life. Does it warrant him having his entire career taken away? Absolutely not. But can't help feel so disappointed about the video. Perhaps I'm too naïve.
I have heard some nasty stuff about him over the years.
I think this is what im going to go for.
I've heard great things and one thing that I like is the spare spools are cheap and readily available as I like a variation of spools based on what I'm fishing for. It wont be a dedicated trotting reel but will be using it for my perch and chub fishing too.
For me it's all about time of year. The upper Severn is my regular haunt so normally don't have to worry about the state of the bottom. If I'm fishing a low clear section with a far bank glide for example during summer I use fluro and my rule of thumb for length is hand to hand across my chest...
Hey all,
Looking for some recommendations for a trotting reel paired with a 15' Acolyte plus.
Not considering centerpins, I want something that I can cast with too.
TIA!
Ok great. If it’s in good condition ill take it. Im usually up in Oldham every other weekend (be a week today) so could send a deposit and collect next week?
