1lb 4oz is 1.25lb.I’m really confused. I have the 11ft Harrison Avon. I understand this to have a test curve of 1.4lbs that is decimal 1.4lbs which is about 1lb 6 oz. I don’t have a Harrison Avon SU. I believe 1.6lbs (decimal) is the test curve which is 1lb 9oz. I think the 1.4 Avon is also sometimes interpreted as 1lb 4oz I.e. 1 1/4lb. Has anyone got the definitive answer on Harrison Avon tc
I find the 11ft Harrison Avon quite soft so Ok for short range I use it for chub, bends right up very light in the hand. The tip is sensitive enough but I also have another tip with a spliced 3oz quiver should I need more sensitivity.
I've learned something here! I got out my original 1lb 6oz rod which was sold as a SEER Rover. I then compared it with the SU version I built recently. It has a noticeably firmer action. I tried interchanging the tops and the SU is slightly wider so it's a loose fit. Looking at the tips closely you can notice it. I never use the two together and don't use the SEER rod much now. I'm glad really that I have one of each ( by accident!).I have four of the Harrison rods, two of each. The 1.4 decimal test curve equates roughly to 1lb 6oz (actually 6.4ozs to be precise) and the 1.6 decimal test curve equates roughly 1lb 10ozs (actually 9.6ozs to be precise). Hope this helps.
We'll it's a 1.25 11ft if interested?Re-activating this thread in the hope of advice on alternatives. My GP 11 ft 1.25 barbel quiver was stolen recently and the chances of finding one secondhand seem slim. So looking at one of these 11ft rods - Harrison Avon 1.25, Torrix 1.25 or Chimera Avon. I mainly touch leger at close range and don't really need a quiver. Any advice on which would be a good replacement?
Thanks Julian. The seller is in this group and has been in touch to say he also has a barbel quiver, which I have agreed to buy. So a happy ending. We'll it's a 1.25 11ft if interested?

According to Harrison website, there is only one chimera avon 1.25lb. 1.4lb is 1lb4oz which is 1.25lb.Just to clarify some long standing avon style confusion on my part...
Is there a Chimera Avon 1.25lb (1lb 4oz) and a Chimera Avon 1.4lb (~1lb 6oz)?
I have seen both mentioned and have often wondered if 1.4lb is actually 1lb 4oz. It is easy to find information on the 1lb 4oz/ 1.25lb rod but there seems to be very little about the potential 1lb 6oz/ 1.4lb/ rod.
If anyone owns the 1lb 6oz I'd be interested to know how different it is to the 1lb 4oz.
There’s a 1.5lb chimera Avon too. Or at least there was not long agoAccording to Harrison website, there is only one chimera avon 1.25lb. 1.4lb is 1lb4oz which is 1.25lb.

Thats chimera no1? Or the 11ft version that discontinued for a while? I’ve only seen one people mentioned the 1.5lb Avon so I wasn’t sure if it was a thing. There’s a 1.5lb chimera Avon too. Or at least there was not long ago
It was Dave lumb told me about there being two of them. Yes 11ft. Maybe it has gone now I’m out of touch with the current range of Harrison specialist stuffThats chimera no1? I agree with you. It's even happening with weights of fish. People say 10.6 for example. What do they mean? 10lb 6oz or 10lb 10oz? (nearly anyway). I questioned it once on another site and I got some surprising responses being accused of being awkward and fussing about nothing. Those were the polite ones!Thank you, so it sounds like another instance of confusion with percentages and lbs and ozs.
