Pimp My Chair (Trakker Nano)?

Hello gentlemen,

My Trakker Nano chair is perfect... almost.

What would make it even better still would be longer extendable legs for the front. I sometimes find that I need them to extend more than they do. Has anyone messed around with modding the legs of a chair? Or can anyone point me toward some longer legs for the Trakker Nano?

Really annoying trend with chairs these days. Think they design them so that you’ve got head room in a bivvy but for anyone taller than a Christmas elf, you might as well sit on the floor. I find myself standing up most of the time, especially on the River but have ended up buying a Shakespeare folding stool for when i do want to rest my legs. Cheap as chips, really light, straps to my rucksack and surprisingly comfy 👍

If the bank ‘IS NOT’ flat you mean? I fish the Severn with notoriously steep banks but have always found a bit of ground that is flat enough to use it! You only need about a foot square area so there is always somewhere (even if you stamp a bit of flat ground). I’m 6’2” and its really comfy as it’s quite high.

The problem I have with fishing chairs is that as far as I can see they are all made primarily for level ground. Yes there are adjustable legs but they don't fit the bill for me. I've had lightweight ones like the "JJ Everlevel" and the "whosever-it-was's Adjusta Level" but they were too small...

No, flat. The trailer nano chair has long extendable front legs, but very short back legs, it should work well for steep banks but for flat bank, seems not so comfortable?
 
I’ve been looking at a better chair for Yorkshire's sloping banks and this one fits the bill , although can’t find it in stock anywhere

I have the Tracker and it suits my needs pretty well.
On a flat bank like the Avon you do end up in a pretty reclined position but that’s ok, especially if you’ve got the tips up. Your legs end up out straight like a sports car.
On a sloped bank you can straighten up or recline. The back rail doesn’t need a huge amount of flat ground to be stable and that works well on a rock steep bank on the Wye etc.

Typically the chair is centre, bucket to the left which acts as side table and the rods on compact rests to my right with the reel within reach for obvious reasons. I’m not a fan of taking the kitchen sink with me, preferring to be light and mobile. If it’s a smash a grab or roving the bucket becomes the “chair”.
 
I have two chairs:
1. The Aeronium recliner - if the bank is steep I just leave the rear legs folded underneath, and extend the front legs.
2. The old Korum basic chair (no arms) with the square-profile legs. Found some telescopic extenders on ebay, some years ago, which adapt to any bank.

Options seem much reduced nowadays.
 
I've extended the legs on one of mine and put removeable rear 'spikes' (to rest on/stick into steep banks behind)...and pleased with the result.

I've also pimped my JRC Xlite - easy enough to do even for a DIY div like myself - however this only works with a 'friction fit / clamp' mech so make sure you check before you butcher your chair.

Just source some 20mm DIA ali tube (think I ordered 1.2M cut into 2x 600mm lengths) and remove the current front legs. Remove the mudfeet from the existing legs (mine were riveted on so I had to drill them out to remove the mudfeet without damage) then cut/trim the new ali as required (with a hacksaw) and screw on the old mudfeet with self tappers. You 'may' want to source some new / wider mud feet (most companies eg Fox do spares) as the JRC ones aren't the largest but I didn't bother. My new pimped legs do extend longer than the length of the chair when folded (even when fully retracted) but do not get in the way in transit and also have enough excess length to retain structural integrity (overlap) when extended . . .
 
Right, thanks for all the suggestions and comments. I’ve done my homework and ordered a Korum S23 Compact for £70. Looks to be perfect for any terrain and only weighs 3.5kg. I’m 5’10” and 12 stone so it won’t be under much pressure 😄
