Really disappointing luggage.

So I was in need of a new holdall due to current one giving up the ghost. Looked online and liked the look of the greys prodigy range. Well as you can imagine one thing lead to another and on its way was the tackle station rucksack, holdall and unhooking mat. It's got to match after all🤣.
Anyway. Yesterday the rucksack arrived. It's huge. Too big. There are loads of side pockets for bits but they all get in each other's way. Zips tricky to access due to pocket above etc.
So I'd loaded it all up and then emptied it all back into my existing drennan specialist 40ltr. I know I'm used to this so maybe I need to get used to the greys?
Today the holdall arrived. Great. Until I try to get the 2lb torrix in the 'large 6'2" compartment'. Well I think if I were to use it for a few sessions I'd be looking to replace the rod tops as there is little to no room for them. Looks great but only for an extra inch. That's what she said.
Anyway looks like I'll be packaging it all back up and sending it back.
Disappointed.
 
I have had the rucksack and I still have the rod holdall. The rucksack was sold because… well, because it’s just too big. They got me with all those pockets but I ended up taking almost all the tackle I owned. It’s seriously well made and if I was camping out for a couple of days it’d be perfect, but no good for my fishing.

The rod holdall. Yes, I know what you mean re the length. I put pike rods or carp rods in there and it’s been fine.

Should add that I wasn’t disappointed and just bought the Greys roving cool bag to replace a knackered Drennan roving bag. £17 second hand and it’s defo NOT going back 😀
 
I've got the holdall, and can get both my Greys and my Daiwas in. Both 12' two piece. There is a small pocket in the bottom of each holdall section, that I assume the rod butt is supposed to go in. I don't put the rod butt in that pocket and can get my rods is ok. It's a little tight, granted. But I've never felt there is a chance of the tips breaking. I also use tip and butt protectors as well.

Really depends where the rod makers put the join. Not all 12" are 6ft each.. And particularly with feeders when shorter. Can be a pain . I want the butt to be a little longer than the tip, to protect it obviously but doesn't always happen.
 
I might have another assessment. I'm guessing with the butt section in the pocket it might give a little extra room for the tip section. I have a shimano tribal at present and the length gives 3" clearance which is perfect.
 
I have also had issues with new luggage, in my case some Korum products. I purchased a 3 rod progress holdall, a 2 rod version and managed to get a 2 rod transition holdall. I have had to replace a rod eye due to damage in the three rod version, and that has never been out of the house. the 2 rods version has also caused damage to one of my handmade Mark Tunley rods, meaning a complete new top section. I also found out they won't hold a reel any bigger than a 5000 size on the 2 rod version - you can't do the zips up! As for the transition holdall, why on earth has that got no storage for rod rests - you can attach a landing net pole but no banksticks.

I wrote to Korum today to explain, be interesting to hear what they come back with in terms of a response. 2 unused products and one I have used twice and I dont feel I can sell them on in any consciousness as I dont see they are fit for purpose. not the retailers issues but just disappointing.
 
I've had some trouble finding a great rucksack, and also struggled with them being too big.

I had a Drennan 30ltr specialist rucksack that got a bit smelly, was my own fault I left some cigarette butts in there several years ago, and now I have given up smoking it absolutely honks - even after a wash!

I tried a Fox Camolite Ruckall but it was just too big depth wise, and also surprisingly heavy when empty.

I think I'm going to try the Avid RVS Ruckbag next which looks a more sensible size, but that lacks the nice straps to hold things like chairs and mats, so will have to sort some strapping system myself.

Its strange the small omissions can really impact the usefulness of the tackle we use and I wonder how much is really designed by anyone who does even a modicum of angling these days.
 
I think they are part of the same group who own fox. I was told a new seat swab for my superlite chair was out of stock and on back order and no idea of delivery, if ever. Turned up in 3 weeks. Fitted yesterday.
