Floodwater line

I have never ever been let down by ESP Synchro XT ( not the loaded version). I use it with complete confidence in strains between 12 and 18 for Barbel and Carp. Usually 12 for Barbel.

I’ve got 3 reels full of 15lb that are getting stripped and going in the bin. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it behaves horribly and feels rough. Spooled as I do all my other lines (and as per the ESP video too) with the spool upright in a cereal container with warm water in. Fished 2 sessions with it and it didn’t improve!

I used the 18lb ESP Syncro for a trip to France a couple of years ago...nightmare for spooling up I found. Issues with line twist whichever way I seemed to load it off the spool. It does have good abrasion properties I'll give it that, but not for me.

Feels rough? It's one of the smoothest, best casting lines I've ever used. It's not right. Duff batch, must be. The 15lb I've used in gravel pits for Carp. It's excellent. All lines tend to go wiry after a while but when first spooled up it should be smooth and supple. I'd complain!

I found the same as Joe above, that it twists to death no matter how it’s loaded or how much it’s cast out/wound in. I’ve got multiples of the same reel with different lines and none of those have any issues with twisting. Maybe it’s different batches, maybe it’s just one of those things that different people have different experiences.

I used 15lb Barkley CM90 for 4 seasons, getting 2 seasons out of each spool up (just reversed it onto another spool after a season). It still behaved perfectly after 2 seasons, never lost a fish on it, never got cut off. Shame they don’t make it anymore!

I bought a spool of Synchro XT in .33 mm diameter (not Loaded) last year and tried it after all the rave reviews. Even the local ‘Tackle Den’ recommended it.

I didn’t like it at all and have gone back to my regular Gardner HT. I’ve also used Korda ‘sub line’ (12lb, breaks at around 15) and had no issues with that.

I recommended synchro xt to my dad after reviews online, I thought it looked horrible in use (comparatively) and will be sticking to Gardner HT or gr60.
