Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

David Gauntlett

Senior Member
OK, senile 80 year old in need of help 😆. I bought some packs of the Korda 'bolt and run rigs' on line, because I liked the sound of the safety aspect of them. However, now I have them I can't for the life of me see how to put them together. I was expecting a pictorial explanation on the cardboard bit in the packet, but no such luck. I am truly embarrassed about this, so please explain, and then forget I ever asked 😣

Hi Dave
Do you mean the Korum Camo Bolt and Run kits?
If so, put run ring on line first, then thread the bead on pointy end first. Then tie on quick change swivel. The fat end of the bead slides over the quick change swivel.

Hi Mark, yes mate, the camo ones. Apologies, but I still don't understand. What I assume to be the run ring has a rubber sleeve over a metal hook, similar to a quick change swivel. The 'bead' I assume is the item wit a fat bullet like end and a stick like end. the hole in the fat end does accept the hook end of the quick change swivel, but doesn't grip it like the sleeve does on a standard quick change swivel, so that wouldn't work, so I guess I am still thinking ass about face! Also, how do you attach the lead? Told you I was senile

So you attach the lead on to the run ring on the hook with the rubber sleeve. You tie the quick change swivel on your line and the fat end slides over the ring of the swivel. You attach your hooklength on the loop on the quick change swivel. Hopefully this explains it better

YEEEEES, got it!!!! It only took 4 or 5 proper anglers with a raft of photos, but I got there 😆 . Thanks all, good on ya. I bought the small size of this bit of kit, which may have been a mistake, but I was assuming this was originally intended for carp fishing, so thought I would scale it down for my river Colne barble. It looks slightly different, but the principle is the same. All I need now is a bit of bearable weather and the fish will be lining up to examine the inside of my landing net.....Don't laugh, you NEEEED a bit of self confidence :D

Cheers Mark, spot on mate. Not quite how I imagined it would be, but makes sense when you see it, and even a daft old fart like me could follow that picture, so thanks again.

Hi Derek, not too bad mate. Mind you, at my age 'well' is a relative thing, and you know what relatives can be like😁. Hope you are good mate?
Thanks David, i'm not too bad. Although i have recently lost my best pal of 50 years, Mark Yates, aged just 59. R.I.P. my friend, will love and miss you always. 🙏 🙏🙏

Back on the subject of these Korum camo-bolt-and-run-rigs, I like them, and thanks to you guys, I have tied a few, easy peasy. My problem now is that on the thin end of the housing that the swivel fits into, there is a collar on that thin end (see Richard Isaacs splendid picture on his post), and all the pics show the run ring pushed up the thin part, and over that wee collar, up to the angled fatter part of that item, thus achieving the 'bolt' affect. Obviously, the 'run' part of the name is supposed to be achieved by the the run ring pulling back over that collar during the fight, allowing the lead to run free. My problem is, on the sets I have, there is no way in gods earth to push the run ring over the collar, WAY too tight a fit, and even if you could some how get it over, there isnt a hope in hell of it ever coming back over to achieve the 'run' part of the name. Am I going nuts, or got it all wrong....or a duff batch?

Sounds like your trying to get a small runring over a standard sized bead Dave.
Maybe a mix up in the packet you have.
Available in Standard and Small.

When working correctly it should clip over the collar easily, and often slips back off during a barbel fight ….shouldn’t be any problem with that! As Dave said maybe a mix up with sizes?

I don't push the lead / feeder on to the collar (Korum Bolt & Run Rig Kit) just leave it resting against the collar and works just fine.
