River Wye - worth a look

He did a series on the Taff which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'll catch up with the Wye tonight.

    Headtorch warning

Could we re-title the thread "Warning, do not discuss headtorches"?

    River Cherwell

Its frightening how quickly nature re-establishes itself. If it's been a couple of years since it was "visited" by the EA, then it may well be overgrown again. I guess thats why they tend to be a bit ruthless.

    Reserving swims?!

Manners are one thing, but I believe that you bait a swim at your own risk.

    Merry Christmas, or chin up.

Sounds all too familiar to me. Split with my wife of 27 years, I met someone else quite quickly, head over heels in love. Turned out that my new lady had a lump which she was denying. Many operations ensued. That all started 13 years ago, and 13 years down the line we're all still alive though...

In reality can Barbel really know the difference ?

Do we not catch fish that pick up the bait to "test" it rather that automatically eat it? If every fish took the bait straight down we'd all be taking 2 foot disgorgers with us. Mind you, what attracts a fish into an area near the hookbait is another story.

    Penton Hook

I fished a there couple of times around 1971. My first barbel, and my second came a few miles upstream near the Bells of Ouzeley.
