    Vehicle of choice

Transporter 4 motion for me, super comfy to drive (I have a bad back) and can keep loads of different set ups in the back. Love it.

    Gardner hydro tuff

I switched to it this year and prefer it to gr60 and synchro. Use 10lb for barbel and tench fishing.

    Bearing pins. Replacing the bearings.

I’m getting a custom ratchet, new bearings and new handles fitted on my 5” Adcock in a couple of weeks time to produce what I hope will be my ideal trotting pin. Must admit I have been tempted by the Fox BJ pins myself.

    4000 ish size non-baitrunner reel choice ?

I also have a Daiwa theory in smaller size and it’s an excellent reel.

    4000 ish size non-baitrunner reel choice ?

I recently bought a pair of Daiwa gs br 5000 reels which I absolutely love (going to buy another pair). They do a non baitrunner version as well, front drag, smooth as silk.

    Pin advice

Okumas are very sound or if you prefer something with a bit of history an Adcock Stanton (with ratchet). I have had lots of trotting centrepins and the one thing I’d avoid is anything less than 4.5 inch as it takes too long to retrieve. I also prefer bearings pins because I can retrieve faster...

    Reels for trotting

Mine is front drag which I prefer and I think is lighter but I may be wrong on that.

    Reels for trotting

I have a Stradic 3000 for waggler fishing for barbel and it is the best reel I have. Has carbon drag washers, is super smooth and light. I also have a Daiwa Fuego and imo the Stradic is far superior.

    Adcock Stanton Help

Thanks for everyone’s input, I’ve decided to get a ratchet put on it and change the handles. Sacrilege to some, but I do like to pimp my ride 😜.

    Adcock Stanton Help

I’ve managed to loosen the screw out of the centre drag knob but it doesn’t seem to make any difference to how the reel spins whether I have both screwed up tight or any other configuration. I’m not really sure how the mechanism works tbh. Do those of you who have the same reel (no ratchet) use...
