My go to roving rod is an 11' S/U Avon Special made by Harrison for Davies Tackle (Christchurch) some years ago. It's a great rod and it's caught me quite a few good chub and the odd barbel on the Hants Avon. With regards to Ralph's comments on the TC I may be wrong but I believe it is 1lb...

You have given me a problem
I already have an Acolyte Specimen 14' paired with a centrepin and I want another rod to go with a fixed spool. Do I get another Accy Specimen or go with a Cadence #4. Decisions, Decisions.
I may try a Cadence just to compare the two so thanks for your suggestion.
I have the following books for sale as I have the leatherbound versions of all of these so no point in continuing having both.
Chalkstream Roach by John Searl signed by 9 and numbered 230 in protective cover £60
A Brush with the Avon by John Searl signed and numbered 315 £75

Hi Etienne
Your question is the same as I asked some time ago as I wanted a reel that could cast further than I normally do with a pin. After various good advice I settled for a Daiwa 24TDR 3012QD with a single handle
I have only used it once so far and it seemed fine but still prefer a pin for...
As I said I bought it on a whim as I will be on the Wye for a few days soon and hopefully will be wading out and trotting. Unlike my local rivers the Hampshire Avon and Dorset Stour and the Test where all my trotting is from the bank.
Will be using a 14' Acolyte Specimen with a pin and possibly...
This may make me appear really stupid but on a whim I purchased the above landing net for when I go wading/ trotting. In the blurb it mentions an integrated magnet in the handle
Where is it and what is it for?
Not sure but try fitting a wading belt around your waist to pull the lower part up a bit.
My Vass waders are very baggy but when kneeling to unhook a fish or whatever they are actually more comfortable than when I use my Orvis waders which were around £650
As Andrew says I have found the Vass foot fittings unsuitable in my normal size that's why I was selling on here a pair of Vass slip on trainers
They were size 11 my size but I had to buy another pair size 12 which although fit better still seem tight against my big toe
