So this is going to be a bit long winded, so bear with me , So I fished barbel masters this weekend, on the Trent at A1 pits, It is the only river match I’ve ever fished, I was totally out of my depth, a completely different experience experience than simply just going to the river on my own...

Personally I use a 13’ Drennan extension , works well for me had some decent barbel and chub on it, , I there not everyone’s cup of tea, but there decent rods for the money

I’ve used ev-d ‘s for a good few years, can’t fault them, apart they don’t work with a receiver, I’ve just bought a 2 set of fox micron x’s with a receiver, which for the money seen spot on

Can’t comment on the reels you mentioned, but I sometimes use one for my rods and it works fine with shimano 4000DL bait runners fitted,

Fox ones are great, even better when used with a korum speed fit tripod head

So not being the tallest of blokes, at 5’6, and with feet that would stop me being blown over in a gale 9-91/2, I struggle getting waders to fit, Vass seem to think that foot size dictates body size, I end up looking like a partially pulled Christmas cracker , and don’t get me started on...

No, it was dusk but still light enough with out a torch, I specifically didn’t use it so I wouldn’t spook the cows 🤣

I fished last night on one of my club stretches, it’s a nice stretch on farm land, and most of the time the fields are left fallow , occasionally sheep are put in to control the grass, but over the summer months the farm always puts around 30 cows in the field, it’s not ideal and in past years...

I use my iPhone and the remote app on my watch , seems to work well
