Being a bit old fashioned I'm looking for one of these having been rather confused by the plethora of current spinning reels which all seem to come from the same factory in China! Not bothered by a faded spool or a few marks as long as it functions well. If you have something suitable please...
I have bought some very decent polarised sunglasses from Aliexpress with no problems.
I'm tempted by some of the lures available but haven't bought any.
Having looked at a possible purchase of a Penn reel I've had an email offering it for about £20 less than original price. (They seem to be...
Hello Wayne - it's always a bit of a risk buying stuff so really pleased you are happy with it. I didn't put any grease on the ratchet so that might need doing if that's what you prefer. To be honest it's probably not even 'run in' as it was used for a handful of sessions on a little tench pond...
I've had this for several years but it's only had a handful of outings.
In excellent condition, one little chip in the finish on the foot. Photos show condition of finish.
Spins very well with no wobble.
Would make a nice trotting reel for grayling, roach, chub or of course a barbel or two.
I...
Hope it does well for you. I've just realised that it was 60 years ago that I'd be at the Fish & Anchor trotting big lumps of cheese for the chub with a Mk IV avon - about 1lb t/c.
You can find a good local spot by looking for wormcasts on short grass - local park, cricket pitch etc. Tread very slowly& softly as the worms pick up vibrations & shoot back down their hole!
Be prepared to make your explanation clear to any local bobbies who come across a weirdo with a red...
I last did this about 50 years ago - old books would refer to it as 'cleaning' the worms & maybe emptying their digestive system. If the moss is absolutely saturated then the worms get 'plumped up' & maybe a bit more wriggly which might be an advantage. Haven't used lobworms for a while...
Realised I’m not going to be putting in long hours piking again so these won’t be getting any use. Must be 40 years old now, were very highly thought of back then & still up to the job throwing half mackerel a long way.
Black glass, 11ft, Fuji’s, full cork with FPS reel seats. 2 3/4lb t.c. I...
I was tempted by a Skoda Scout which is an Octavia estate but with 4wd & more ground clearance. Popular with NHS fleets - might be able to get a decent one, some have minor adapations which might not matter much. Ended up with my Subaru & happy with it for a few years now.
I can say they were very quick with a delivery for me - next day about 250 miles away. £30 I think.
No damage, but it was inside one of those old Drennan triangular rod tubes inside a cardboard carpet tube....
