I've used 20lb PP as a hooklink and then PP Super Slik 8 since it became available.
No damage caused to fish on about 3000 examples.
However the Spiderwire of years ago did not have a smooth or soft exterior feel and I would not have used that.
A 13ft rod that has lost 9 inches of the tip and had a new eye fitted.
It's now 12ft 3inches of a as new Hardy that would be perfect for trotting smaller rivers or as a feeder rod ideal for chub. Roach etc.

I use a tucked blood knot onto a swivel that I have gone through twice ( braid hooklink) before tying.
I use the same knot to attach the mono mainline above.
I rarely feel the need to change the hooklink. If so it means just cutting above the mainline link swivel and attaching a new one with...
I said the same at a local Club AGM five years ago. As I had been fishing 2 to 3 times a week for about 10 years I felt I had a pretty good overview.
Quite a few suggested I was talking rubbish.
I suspect they may feel a bit different now
