David dear chap, you've got your priorities all wrong, you manage to catch a deer scuba diving ( at range ). and mountaineering, but couldn't photo a few tits just a few feet away. 😜
Mine has got to be fishing off the rocks at Trearddur Bay Anglesey, its got to be at least 3 quarters of a mile across the bay, an old guy, possibly in his late 80's, early 90's, would swim from one side to the other, then back again. He did it every morning we where there, Amazing.
Or rather Rested first, for a good while, in a bigger net, then weighed, if the potential is there, for a large fish, then i agree, a minimum net size is a must. Or a smaller net, and a larger secondary net set up just in case.
I get where your coming from Rich, there used to be many posters on the Ribble thread, but apart from a few, mainly Gaz Wagstaff, they've all but disappeared, sad really. :(
I always start off long, if I'm missing bites, ( not that i get many 😁 ), I'll shorten slightly, chop 6 to 8 inches off, and keep doing so till i finally hook one. Its easier than starting off short, then having to tie a longer one.
