    Dead maggots for trotting?

This advice comes from anglers travelling to Ireland 30 or 40 years ago when you struggled to find maggots when you were over there. They sacked gallons up for days for the duration of the travel and got them out in portions that suited their stay.

    Dead maggots for trotting?

If you suck the air out of the bags they come in, they go comatose and can be cold stored for a good while. They look dead when you open them but they come round after a while. Also make sure they're in good condition and not stinking before you do this.

    Dead maggots for trotting?

Never done it intentionally but they're probably as good as live if killed fresh and not stinking. Trotting them gives the fish little chance of rejecting them. Little tale; Back in the 90's a mate and myself bought a few pints of maggots for trotting a section of the swale. Turned up, few...

Wanted advice on River tripods and bite alarms with receiver

I've been using Fox micron sx digitals for 20+ years, bomb proof. If you come across any, highly recommended. I bought 5 delk evd's from Rob Linwood and have to say, they seem to do everything you need, I even went so far as ordering the Union flag stickers for them but they're in my tackle...

    Rod set ups

I think as anglers we need a bit of live and let live and also to take notice of winks that indicate even though I have both, I don't take them too seriously.

Thanks Richard, this concurs with some other opinions on another forum. I'll give it a strip down and clean but I've ordered another bearing before finding out it may just need a clean!

    Reel Servicing

As was I many years ago. Served my time on lathes, mills, etc and ended up in the precision grinding dept' of a gear, thread and spline scecialist Company. Many years ago now, still fancy getting myself a lathe in the shed for my retirement, perhaps knock a few pods etc up! There were a few...

I have a shimmy 10000XTE that could do with a overhaul Richard, it may be beyond financially sensible to do it though. It actually runs but it doesn't feel right, play where there shouldn't be etc! Could you take a look?
