Otters.... if only

The Frome and Kentish Stour seem to be plagued by these blighters .... stories of hooked pike being attacked .....

Makes the odd otter seem insignificant .....

Might lead to a bit of winter sport though Chubbles, out on the ice with a club, just like the good old days?? :D

They are in all the major Humber tributaries (e.g. Hull, Ouse, Wharfe and Trent) to some degree or other at various points - they follow the Sea Trout and Salmon runs.
Over a season and half they finished the River Hull as a Barbel fishery.

This is one I photo graphed on the Trent this August, if you look close you can see my mainline....

Hi Wayne
The fact seal took a fish is all right with me, we get a few seals swim up the Severn to Tewkesbury they last year took a few carp and pike, I expect that has been there way for thousands of years, and come the day the seals can't pass hydro electric schemes or any other man made catastrophe will be the day that we should be shocked.:)

Hi Neil
Sorry i should have editered my post I read it back to myself lol I didn't mean it the way it came across I meant it as in I was shocked to see it happen mate. Natures nature really and nature will look after its self I suppose, and that we can't change. Yeah I should imagine it has been that way just like cormarants eating fish, but from a none fishing point of view people may like it, however the majority hate to see it but would we hate it if we saw an osprey scoop down and take a fish or a white tailed eagle?
Regards

As an oldie I rarely saw a cormorant 20+ years ago. Before the seas were stripped bare.

Maybe the same applies to seals.

I heard a snoring sound coming from margin in front of me on tidal just at high tide when I went down to have a look I was amazed to see bloody great seal not a rod length from bank took one look at me and dived down and came up 50 yards downstream in mid river !!!!!!!!!! seen them before on Trent and on Witham but not that close
