C4 - Dirty Business

I'm not sure anyone is disputing the increase in population but would that not mean more customers, more revenue?
As others have clearly pointed out and just a quick Google search would indicate the billions spent on dividends, the level of debt and the fact that they have been fined on more than one occasion for financial mismanagement.
Between Oct 23 and Mar 24 they paid nearly £200m in dividends and were subsequently fined by Ofwat.

My local river (Bollin) received 374 hours of untreated sewage discharge in 2025 compared with the annual average of 120 hours since 2020.

One smaller local river I fish suffered 1679 hours of untreated sewage pollution in 2024, I have not yet seen the 2025 figures. Plans to build thousands more houses are afoot in the area.

Thats just from one treatments works btw.

Where do the EA take water quality samples from? Just above the treatment works..
