Amazing find!
I once had a familiar find, well, my Mrs found it (must be 15 years back now). It was an Allcocks match Aerial unused in an original box for free!

It was a very lucky find, Craig. My Mrs was looking for a otaman, which is a wicker bedding box. Anyhow, there was a spot at the exit where the sellers would dump all the stuff they had left over and didn't want as they left the boot sale. My Mrs loved rooting through these heaps of junk, and there was an otaman on the junk pile which she grabbed. There was also an old suitcase on the pile of junk, which she also got hold of. She opened the suitcase and found a cardboard box inside, and a small, tatty red box inside that. Anyhow, I was sitting in the car waiting for her when she appeared carrying the oterman. She was very happy to have found the oterman and was raving about it. I wasn't too happy about it because I thought it was dirty old junk. As I opened the back of the car to put the oterman in, she said, "Oh, I got something for you," and she opened and pulled out the small battered red box and said I think it's one of those reels you like. I recognised the box instantly and couldn't believe my eyes when I opened it, it was a mint condition Allcocks match aerial!
I had only just bought one in a mint box from eBay and was waiting for it to be delivered. So, I sold an old, well-used one which I had been using for a few years and kept the freebie and the one from eBay. I still have them both today.
To give her credit, my Mrs found lots of amazing things, but never any more fishing gear. After she found the reel in that pile of junk, I occasionally had a stroll around and checked out any fishing tackle I could see. The only thing I ever found worth getting was a chocolate toffees box full of lures and spinners, which I got for a fiver and was probably well over a hundred quid's worth.

Why ruin a good rod by sticking a 120m on it like sticking hob nail boots on Usian Bolt

As for bargains... I did an ebay search on local match rods and found a Rave Barrel rod being sold for a fiver. A close inspection revealed it to be a Dave Harrell rod on a Tricast blank... Thanks for coming
