Good afternoon fellow anglers …
I am looking to join the NPA for the coming season and I have a proposer …. But I need a seconder …. Unfortunately I don’t know many anglers in this area and was was wondering if there was anyone on BFW that would be prepared to second my application when I apply .

Pm me if you are able to help .
Thanks in advance

The waiting list is a good few years for non NG post code residents. Put your name down for both full membership and the east stoke only section as you might find your offered an east stoke place first.

I’m not sure you’ll get a random member that doesn’t know you to second you because they would be in this case verifying you as a well behaved person that will abide by the rules.
I’m sure that you are but without knowing you they are essentially putting their own membership at risk if they second you and you turn out to be River Trent’s most wanted poacher if that makes sense.

My advice….. go on as a guest with your proposer afew times and try and meet other members face to face during the guest visits. Get to know some of the NPS guys on the bank and then you’ll be a much better position of getting a second proposer.

Many thanks Richard ….. advice is very appreciated…..

Echoing Richard’s sentiments and as far as I’m aware, the wait is at least 3-4 years, a friend of mine who is outside NG postcode has been on the list for nearly 5.
I’m on the waiting list myself, and having fished a fair few times as a guest, there are lots of friendly members about.

As far as I'm aware James as long as you have a proposer you do not require a seconder. I've been on the waiting list for a number of years and only had a proposer and I believe the online application form only requires a proposer.

You are quite correct Paul.
Just a proposer requirement now for N.P.S. membership.
But please be aware that there is a 2 year probationary period...
Where the proposer is responsible for the new members actions...

I would love to get membership for NPS and im Nottingham born and bred. Seems like a closed shop as with all the prolific Trent waters in my area.

You only need a proposer to get on the waiting list Russ, and you can get on the east Stoke ticket, waiting list without a proposer, which gives you a chance to meet "like minded" anglers.. .
And possibly a future proposer.👍

The waiting list for east Stoke is full then , sorry Russ , I wasn't aware, .
I think if you check the website early December , they normally allocate applications until jan 1st.
Just a case of keep checking then get on when they come up..
Jim

Will do Jim, thanks for your advice. I’ve managed to get a ticket for Midland Angling this season for the Caythorpe/Gunthorpe stretch but never fished it before but looking forward to giving that a try and I’ve got the Scunny book so a few options but the NPS ticket would be a dream 🙏

I have several friends in the NPS, i've always swerved their offers on a days fishing on there in the past.
Since the fishing is regarded to be prolific with some good float fishing areas I might take them up on it this season.
